“Lighting Their Hair On Fire,” And Big Babies *Weekend Open Thread*

by

Before I get into the Weekend post, I want to thank KenoshaMarge for her excellent posts this past week while I was off having a magical time at Disney World (and I did – great time with friends and our godson at four different parks. Well, five if you count where the Braves’ play – and won. We also had a bonus evening at Medieval Times – awesome!). Thanks so much, Marge!

While I didn’t get to comment much since we got back to the resort pretty late each night, I did read all of Marge’s posts and checked out some headlines on all the CRAZINESS going on this past week courtesy of the Democrats.

I have to agree with Speaker Paul Ryan – the “Democrats are lighting their hair on fire” trying to make a mountain out of barely a mole hill in terms of AG Sessions and his meeting with Russians while a US Senator on the Armed Services Committee. And he was by FAR not the only US Senator to do so. Democrats met with some Ruskies, too, despite their complete falsehoods to the contrary (and they weren’t the only ones, right Nancy??)

Wanna know who else visited with the Russian Ambassador that all these Democrats like Al Franken, Claire McCaskill, and Nancy Pelosi are all so het up about? That would be none other than PRESIDENT OBAMA, who met with him a gazillion (plus or minus) times at the White House.

So yeah. Maybe these Dems with their hair on fire might want to take a cold shower and chill the hell out already.

But that isn’t the whole story, not by a long shot. Mark Levin notes that we are completely missing the point about this whole Sessions thing. I think he is on to something. From The Right Scoop:

[…]

This is crucially important. Everybody’s missing the point. The incredible scandal here is the Obama administration was investigating top officials in the Trump campaign, maybe even Trump himself during the course of the election!

Listen to this from the WSJ today. ‘U.S. investigators have examined contacts Attorney General Jeff Sessions had with Russian officials during the time he was advising Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, according to people familiar with the matter.’

They were investigating a sitting United States Senator who hadn’t done anything? They’re investigating a sitting Attorney General who hasn’t done anything? Based on what premise? The fact that he was advising Donald Trump? Is this not appalling and shocking to you?

No. Kidding. Why aren’t more people asking just why a sitting US Senator who had done NOTHING wrong was being investigated by the Federal Government? That just BEGS explanation. I am not holding my breath for that answer to be forthcoming, but the question deserves to be answered.

Don’t even get me started on those cowardly big babies like Michael Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, and Bill Maher, who had the sheer unmitigated GALL to make condescending, patronizing comments regarding the widow of the Navy Seal killed in action recently, Carryn Owens. And why did they do so? Because she attended Trump’s speech on Tuesday night at which Trump mentioned her husband, Ryan Owens, and that his sacrifice for this Nation will never be forgotten.

A Green Beret sniper, Bryan Sikes, had a WHOLE lot to say to those three for their completely assholic comments in his piece at Clash Daily. Here is a sampling of what Sikes wrote:

[…]

Well, I witnessed a standing ovation for a woman who lost her husband serving this great county. I witnessed genuine sorrow and gratitude for Mrs. Owens. I witnessed a military wife that lost a loved one, receive support from the masses in a time of great suffering. Furthermore, I see YOU as the washed up, “my opinion actually matters” douche that is responsible for exploiting her. Do you actually believe people care what you think? I’m here to tell you that the thoughts of a “C-list” actor turned daytime propagandist measures somewhere between a cat turd and a dog turd.

And you feel bad because President Trump exploited her? When have you ever made mention of feeling bad for widows of fallen heroes? When has such a topic ever been explored? ..(O)h wait, it hasn’t been until now where you can fabricate a twisted narrative of a standing ovation for a woman that just lost her husband to try and make a President look bad.

For the record, I carried and buried more friends than I care to mention while Obama was President…I don’t recall you or The View‘s outcry for them and their families. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Amen to that. Where was the hue and cry then, huh? These people, these big babies who are acting all holier than thou and sanctimonious about the reception this woman, and her deceased husband, received Tuesday night continue to highlight that there really is no depth to which they will not sink. Sad to say, but true.

Now I realize that this is more political than I usually get on the weekends, but these stories were just bugging the bejeezus out of me while on vacation. That and the sheer silence of Democrats when their new leader, Tom Perez, declared they had to fight to make this a one-term proposition for Trump. You know, the very same people who RAILED against Mitch McConnell for saying the same thing about Obama. Bunch of hypocritical whiny babies, that’s for sure.

And now you know why I love animals so much. They are such a respite from the insanity of so much of what is happening in our nation, and the world, these days. Since this is the Weekend Open Thread, and since I have mentioned big babies, I have to share this video of one big baby courtesy of I Heart Horses to get to that whole Weekend thing. It is mighty cute:

Now THAT’S a big baby I don’t mind one little bit! Adorable!

And since watching cat videos is supposed to lower one’s stress levels and just make you happy, considering all the decidedly UNHAPPY news I had above, this seems like a fitting close to this post. Naturally, I’ll have to find some babies – kittens – to do the job. Here’s one for you:

Those are some mighty precious little kittens, aren’t they? I love the one that looks like an owl!

Okay, folks – that’s it for me. Good to be back, and many thanks again to dear KenoshaMarge for keeping the blog fires burning while I was down in Florida playing.

This is the Weekend Open Thread.

The lynching of Jeff Sessions is one of the truly ugliest things I can remember seeing. I wish I could say it was just being done from the left. But read some/many of the comments over at the Right Scoop and you’ll see some of the #Nevers still voicing their rage over Trump winning first the primary and then the general election.

One commented that Sessions deserved whatever he gets because he betrayed “our” beloved Ted Cruz by supporting Trump.

Let me make it perfectly clear that NO damn politician is my “beloved.” And much as I admire Ted Cruz he was and still is my second choice. Scott Walker IMO would have made a better president. He has had governing experience under very difficult situations and has come through with flying colors and made life better for many of us here in Wisconsin.

The adolescent anger over not getting their way, while self-righteously proclaiming their “principles” is disgusting.

Ted Cruz has moved on. They have not and many now savage Cruz too for his acceptance of reality. SMH

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is a better word for what they are doing to a man that man Democrats, including the massively hypocritical Cory Booker, admired just LAST YEAR. I am so disgusted by their antics, and their desire to take down this Presidency no matter the damage it is doing to the country. All they care abt is that they lost and they are going to make EVERYONE pay as a result.

I hope to God Republicans stand strong against these bullies. They are an embarrassment and can’t see that for the self-righteousness they feel blinding them.

Oh – and no kidding abt NO politician being my “beloved.” WTH is wrong with these people?!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It never ceases to amaze me how much in denial Dems are. As I noted in the post, the Russian Ambassador met with Obama at the WHITE HOUSE 22 times.

And then there is this little moment they have all ignored:

      Hypocrites.

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

I am not a big Levin fan – more because of style than substance. The whole “yelling” thing really annoys me.

I don’t always agree with him but often find myself having to bow to his greater knowledge and experience.

    My “opinion” doesn’t “trump” that.

    Levin knows his stuff.

Mark Levin ( born September 21, 1957) is a lawyer, author, and the host of syndicated radio show The Mark Levin Show.

Levin worked in the administration of President Ronald Reagan and was a chief of staff for Attorney General Edwin Meese.

He is president of the Landmark Legal Foundation, has authored six books, and contributes commentary to various media outlets such as National Review Online. On September 1, 2015, Levin was named Editor-in-Chief of Conservative Review.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yeah, I don’t like that whole yelling style a la Levin and Limbaugh either, but I thought his point was a good one: why in the hell was the Obama Administration spying on a sitting US Senator who had done nothing wrong? That is beyond appalling, and should be the scandal abt which people are talking.

God, I am so tired of the manufactured outrage of the Left. Just this morning I was reading an article abt a townhall my Rep., Mark Sanford, held, in which a whole bunch of lefties came (again), including a new group, Young Democrats. When Sanford called on one of them, the young man read “his” question off of his phone. This whole thing is so astroturfed…

    • mcnorman Says:

YES, I’m so glad to hear that I am not the only one that cannot stand the Levin yelling. The guy knows his stuff because he has worked in the bowels of the WH but the yelling…oy vey. I am now truly disgusted with what Obama and his ilk have and are doing right now. Several places have offered more insight into what Obama started by granting more power to the NSA. If the Dems think this is a good thing, they need to think it through because Snowden warned us.

      • mcnorman Says:

If ture that the DOJ ordered taps at Trump Towers, this makes the meeting between Bill Clinton and Lynch more suspect.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yeah, I never listen to him – just read what he says. 🙂

And yeah – Obama’s last minute granting of expanded NSA powers is telling indeed. As is the possibility of wiretaps on Trump Towers.

It astonishes me what Dems are okay with if Obama does it, like trying to disrupt the abilities of an incoming President in ways I have NEVER seen in my life. They seem to be gleeful that they are able to bully and scream anyone who gets in their path all because they lost and cannot handle/accept it, therefore they must have their way by rioting and disrupting every meeting to show how powerful they are.

These are some sad times for this country…

Attacks on Jeff Sessions hit rock bottom with spy recruitment innuendo

In a post two weeks ago, I suggested that Trump was being put on trial in the media based on fact-less innuendo, The fact-free Intelligence Community-Media trial of Trump by innuendo:

I don’t know whether Donald Trump or his aides had any improper contacts with Russian Intelligence officers.

Neither do you, or the media. The Intelligence Community might know, but they have provided zero facts either officially or through leaks to prove any improper, much less illegal, conduct took place.

Instead, we have trial by innuendo based on there being “contacts” between Trump campaign aides and Russian intelligence….

In this fact-free environment, imaginations and malicious intentions can run wild. We have round-the-clock media and social media speculation and frenzy throwing around terms like impeachment, treason, and so on.

It is, in some ways, worse than harmful facts, because there is no clear accusation against which to defend, and no factual basis upon which the public can judge.

Since that time, the innuendo campaign has intensified, and reached its pinnacle overnight accusations against Jeff Sessions and his meeting with the Russian Ambassador. Kemberlee and Mary covered earlier why the allegations of perjury or lying are wrong.

But there’s a worse smear being stoked.

One implication of this frenzy is that the Russian Ambassador was a spy recruiter and that’s why he met with Sessions.

    http://legalinsurrection.com/2017/03/attacks-on-jeff-sessions-hit-rock-bottom-with-spy-recruitment-innuendo/

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good Lord. The author is spot on – facts seem to matter not one WHIT to these people. It is truly disturbing the depths to which so many have sunk in this nation.

  7. piper Says:

My advice to Trump, Congress and their people – Stop tweeting, yelling and start implementing policies. There are always going to people especially the media whose membership is not only declining rapidly (they might have to lay off staff) but also trust is at rock bottom, who will criticize everything one does whether it’s beneficial or rotten.
As for the neverT’s – your behavior is as loathsome and unproductive as the hillarys and democrats are – nothing good will come out of it except more disgust at you.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

In a way Trump’s tweets provide a kind of “cover” for what is being done. The Media is so obsessed with what he “tweets” that they often fail to cover the things he’s done. So there is that…

And having been a neverT I just don’t understand them and their continuing hate. He was elected. Get over it. Do what people with common sense and integrity do – praise when right, complain when wrong. The constant b*tching is tiresome and accomplishes nothing.

  8. piper Says:

The dems and never trumpers need to read this well written article and learn why so many people voted for Trump.

    https://townhall.com/columnists/douglasmackinnon/2017/03/04/finally-realworld-experience-occupies-the-oval-office-n2293899

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Yes, we can all benefit from some of the real world experience that Trump has. But common sense is wasted on the neverTs who just cannot get over themselves.

They are as crazy as the loons on the left. They are now willing to attack anyone that is willing to accept the fact that Trump won and hope he will be better than we thought he would be.

Their willingness to join the lynch mob in attacking Jeff Sessions is a prime example. He, although a friend of Ted Cruz, endorsed Trump.

Like Levin, Limbaugh and others, he is now the enemy. As is Cruz for some of them for his ability to accept reality and move on.

  9. piper Says:

My only concern right now is the constant weekend trips to Florida and who’s paying for them.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I agree. Trump needs to plant his ample butt in the White House and stay there.

If there is any traveling around it should be Melania and Baron joining him on the weekends when Baron is out of school.

We all know that they are not the “typical” family. But optics is necessary.

Senator Tim Scott Flips Kellyanne Conway Couch Controversy With Dig at Bill Clinton

    Senator Scott was really funny!

Then the idiot Dem that followed him decided to up the ante by taking a tasteless and cheap shot at Kellyanne Conway.

Even Jake Tapper was appalled. And a Dem has to go a long way to appall Tapper.

Following Scott’s stand-up act, Rep. Cedric Richmond (D., La.) went too far when he told a crude joke about the viral photo of Conway kneeling on the couch, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

“You even mentioned Kellyanne and that picture on that sofa,” Richmond said during his speech to Scott. “I really want to know what was going on there because she really looked kind of familiar in that position there, but don’t answer.”

It is so difficult to find people who act like adults in media and in politics. Oh and in supporters of people in both. It often appears to me as if the majority of the country is still stuck in adolescence.

Ain’t that the damn truth! It is truly astonishing to see how adults act these days. WOW.

This Is The Most Heartbreaking Story Of The Year

Chicago-based New York Times best-selling author Amy Krouse Rosenthal is looking for the right woman to marry her husband of 26 years, a lawyer named Jason Brian Rosenthal. A New York Times piece penned by Amy, aptly titled You May Want to Marry My Husband, is essentially outlined as a dating profile, wherein the author also details her immense love and affection for warm, caring Jason.

You see, Amy, a famous author of children’s books, including, I Wish You More, Uni the Unicorn, Plant a Kiss, Exclamation Mark, Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons and Duck! Rabbit!, is battling aggressive ovarian cancer, and in her estimation, only has days left to live. In her limited time left, as she reminisces on her and Jason’s love and life, she has focused herself on the future life of the father of her three children, doing what she thinks will help him find “another love story” after her existence.

    http://www.dailywire.com/news/14079/most-heartbreaking-story-year-amanda-prestigiacomo

I don’t know about the most heartbreaking since there are plenty of other stories, if we knew them, that would also tug at the heartstrings and make us tear up. To me the story isn’t just that this wonderful couple is about to break in half but the wonder of people that have lived, and loved, together for 26 years and still have love and respect for each other. For two people to achieve that in this world is amazing. And wonderful.

And then that this wonderful woman would seek not to insist her husband live the rest of his life in mourning for her but in search of another love story is the most unselfish thing I’ve heard in a very long time.

It is so nice that from time to time we are reminded that while human beings can be truly vile they can also rise to heights of sublime behavior.

Bless this wonderful and talented woman for what who and what she is – she will be near impossible to replace. I hope he tries as she seems a woman that will not truly rest in peace knowing her beloved is lost and alone.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a wonderful, bittersweet story, Marge. And yes, there are lots of great stories out there, but her selflessness, her abiding love for her husband and wanting him to find love again, says a whole lot abt her as a person. What an amazing woman.

No doubt she is irreplaceable – but how incredibly kind and compassionate she is, even in the midst of her personal suffering, to be more concerned abt how her beloved husband will fare once she is gone.

Thank you for this. It is a heartwarming tale indeed, and much needed in these contentious times…

8 ways Team Obama is actively undermining Trump’s presidency
The Obama administration — now doing business as “The Resistance” — is working every angle it can from both within and outside of government not only to undermine Donald Trump’s presidency, but perhaps bring it down altogether.

In so doing, it is creating a destructive precedent with respect to the transition of power, representing a momentous shift one can only appreciate when stepping back from the fog of day-to-day political combat. History will tell us if this is another example of the Left engaging in a practice it will someday come to rue à la Harry Reid’s nuclear option.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It truly is remarkable. As I mentioned in another comment, I have NEVER seen an outgoing President act the way Obama has, and I sure haven’t seen any begin resistance organizations to try and take down the new President. If this isn’t treasonous, it is mighty close to it.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I think it is treason. But then I thought much of what Obama was able to get away with was unconstitutional at best and treason at worst.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good point there, Marge – yeah, Obama was allowed to get away with WAY too much, encouraged by Dems and enabled by Reps. This latest is just beyond the pale..

5 Reasons Millennials Should Never Go To Church

More than any living generation, millennials are unchurched and uninterested in traditional religion.

This may explain why they love to preach so much—especially about why they won’t come back to church. Church, you see, is just so disappointing. It never lives up to their expectations.

They Want To Be Mentored, Listened to, and Affirmed

Millennials are huge on this, and we can understand why. They grew up in a world of customer service, confidence-building pedagogy, and social media that offers everyone their own soap box. Why is church the one place were people don’t seem that interested in what you think?

Here’s a possibility: maybe pastors wisely recognize that you aren’t necessarily the one with the great ideas. Maybe church is a place for people who have realized how much they need to learn.

    http://thefederalist.com/2017/03/03/5-reasons-millennials-never-go-church/

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Excellent points abt the unchurched millennials. “Last Man Standing” had an excellent episode Fri. night abt the couple’s three girls not going to church after they got older. How they got them involved in going was well done.

And yeah – I think many of us ministers know it is more abt what we can learn, can hear, if only we open ourselves to it.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I wonder if a generation that was taught it was all about them can relate to something that isn’t. Because even some of us that weren’t raised to believe that sometimes find it difficult to remember it’s all about “Him.”

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

          Great point, Marge.

Along those lines, just this morning, I saw Reba McEntire talking abt her newest album of hope and praise. She started crying when asked abt “How Great Thou Art.” It was one of her grandmother’s favorite songs. She said that even listening to the playback with her producers had her in tears. She said that the Holy Spirit just wrapped her in his arms when she sang it.

She was also asked what she was hoping to accomplish by singing these songs. She said she is just the conduit for getting them out there. That it’s the Holy Spirit’s job from here. She’s done her work, and now it’s the Holy Spirit’s turn.

          Powerful, no?
