Conservative Groups Trash GOP Obamacare Replacement Bill
(The Hill) Outside conservative groups on Tuesday blasted House Republicans’ newly unveiled healthcare proposal, saying it doesn’t live up to the GOP’s promise of fully repealing ObamaCare.
The Club for Growth dubbed the proposal “RyanCare” and threatened to record names of Republicans who vote for the bill unless it includes significant changes.
Heritage Action, FreedomWorks and the Koch brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity, a group aligned with billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch, also issued scathing statements highly critical of the “American Health Care Act,” which was released on Monday.
FreedomWorks panned the GOP bill as “ObamaCare-Lite,” while AFP labeled it “ObamaCare 2.0.”
Conservatives are not happy.
Two Conservatives that can be counted on to tell us the truth, Jim Jordon and Mike Lee are not happy with this replacement fiasco.
Freedom Caucus member and former Chairman Jim Jordan said Monday that he was still unimpressed with the House GOP’s bill to repeal and replace Obamacare and had not seen significant enough changes to win back his support.
“I don’t see any significant changes here,” Jordan said in an interview with CNN. “It’s significantly the same thing to me so it sort of doesn’t change my position, but we’ll talk to our guys tomorrow night. “The Democrats are not happy – although why not since it’s basically a tweaked Obamacare. But then they have become the party of whine. No bread, no cheese, just whine.
Cartoonists are happy. This is a whole new chance to show the hypocrisy of the right. And it’s coming at them from the right and the left.
The consensus among cartoonists, both the left and the right, is that the “replacement” fizzled.
Cartoonist Nate Beeler. of the Columbus Dispatch, expressed the feelings of many.
Phil Hands, not often on my list of favorite cartoonists expressed what I feel in this particular case. Expressed what many feel. That familiar WTH and SMH feeling.
The always brilliant Michael Ramirez did his usual magic with the topic. And expressed the imminent disaster for the GOP that this swing and a miss will cause.
Bruce Plante, of the Tulsa World, another cartoonist that I don’t often find amusing was spot on in this instance. Whether it is amusing is another issue entirely.
Another newbie on my cartoonists list is Paul Fell or the Artisans Syndicate.
Steve Sack of The Minneapolis Star Tribune has another good one. If Paul Ryan continues to defend this POS he will lose even more support from the right. He may think he’s invulnerable here in SE Wisconsin. I’ll bet

Thank you so much for covering this “replacement.” It is truly stunning that this was the best that Reps could do. WOW. All I can say is that I hope the Reps with a brain make this something decent before it is passed, though I am not holding my breath.

I’m with you on Paul Ryan who should remember the lesson of Rep. Eric Cantor who lost his reelection bid to a newbie, David Bratt. Perhaps Eric should have spent more time listening to his constituents instead of counting on big bucks (over a million dollars) to win.

Eric Cantor should be a lesson to all the people like Ryan who think that just because they have always been elected that they always will be.
If a Dave Brat-like candidate primaried Ryan he just might have to go home to Janesville and work for a living.
Just because Paul Nehlen lost, and lost bigly, doesn’t mean that will always happen.
Given the ratio of Dems in this area you would think they could unseat him – but they can’t seem to find a candidate that doesn’t have all their screws loose.

You got that right, piper and Marge. Ryan would do well indeed to remember just how fast someone in his position can be unseated. That the House put forth this bill after ALL the people have said for the past 8 years speaks volumes.
I caught Gov. Huckabee this morning talking abt this issue. One thing he said they failed at MISERABLY was giving back Medicare to the Governors of States who know far better what their citizens need than the Fed. Gov’t. People in rural Arkansas, he said, have much different needs than people in Boston. (He also said PREVENTATIVE care is what should be the focus rather than taking care of people after they get sick.)

TrumpCare: An Ill-Thought-Out Mish Mash That Solves Nothing
The GOP replacement for Obamacare is out and, if preliminary reviews are any indication, the bill — or anything like it — will not make it to the floor of the House for a vote.
No one likes it. I mean, no one. Conservatives wouldn’t like anything that wasn’t a complete, immediate, and total repeal of Obamacare. Senate Republicans are terrified that the bill would evidently throw millions of Americans off their insurance policies by making them unaffordable.
There are complaints from GOP governors about ditching the Medicaid expansion. Fiscal hawks are horrified at the tax credit idea that would replace direct subsidies. It’s too expensive, too timid, too much of a compromise that, in the end, does very little to solve the huge problems caused by Obamacare.
In short, I don’t think even Paul Ryan’s mother likes this bill.

I have no patience with Trump’s “tweets” and even less than the fools that go ballistic every time he tweets some nonsense. Many/most of those “fools” are in the media and should be ignored as they so obviously deserve. And Ben has the best idea I’ve heard so far – watch what Trump does, not what he says. Of course, men aren’t the end all, be all, but as long as we’re protesting the backward assumption that women aren’t appreciated in America (really? Prove it.), let’s go with the likelier statement that men are underappreciated. For example, there are more men than women in industries that make up the bedrock of this country’s technical, physical, political, and legal infrastructure. They dominate in the fields of accounting and finance, technology, culinary arts, law enforcement, emergency services, engineering, politics, and construction.
About 85 percent of our nation’s military personnel are male, particularly those in elite forces. This isn’t necessarily because women are excluded — though they are from some units — but because few can fulfill the rigorous requirements. Instead of causing a ruckus, demanding equality for the sake of it, be thankful there are bad-ass men sacrificing their lives to protect us. If your loved one were captured by ISIS, who would you want to do the rescuing? The guy on SEAL Team Six or the gal, who although she couldn’t make the cut physically or mentally, was allowed in anyway? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
