Too “Fast” *Weekend Open Thread*

by

Hard to believe March is already more than halfway over. I am not sure where in the world the time is going, but it sure is, um, marching along.

Has it really only been not even two months since Trump took office? Sure seems longer, mainly because of the constant screaming, yelling, and temper tantrums being thrown by those on the Left who still cannot accept the November outcome. And that’s just the media. For instance, check out this little exchange between the White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and ABC’s Jonathan Karl:

Uh, yeah. You know I am no fan of the current White House occupant (just like I wasn’t the one before, or the one before that), and I don’t care one way or the other about Sean Spicer, but he is absolutely on the money in his assertion that the media is picking and choosing on what it will report. If something negates the narrative they have been pushing for weeks they ignore the evidence that contradicts their claims.

So yeah, maybe it is because of things like the constant harangue in the country that makes it seem Trump has been in office longer.

Regardless, time has just been flying by. There has been so much going on in a host of areas that makes it hard to believe we have passed the halfway mark of March already.

I think Luke Bryan just nails it in his song, “Fast”:

“Sixty seconds feels more like thirty…” Too true…

It’s funny, isn’t it? How when we are young time seems to pass oh-so-slowly, like waiting for our birthdays, or Christmas, or for a class that doesn’t capture our attention? Oh, yeah.

But NOW, time really does seem to pass by so fast. Maybe once we get older, we have more responsibilities, more weighing on our shoulders, and more plates to juggle. There never seems to be enough time, does there?

And there is one personal area on which I want to touch in that regard. We are entering our last week of packing before the big move this coming weekend. Whew. In addition to the packing and getting our ducks in a row for the move, I am still dealing with some physical issues that are making the move preparation a bit more difficult.

Anyway, once next weekend comes, I will be occupied first by the actual move to our new place half an hour away, and then by unpacking. I expect to be away from the blog for a couple of weeks or so come 3/25 just so you know. I will be around some until then, though this week will be a bit busy, as I am sure you can imagine.

But hey, maybe just for now, maybe because this is the Weekend, we can all try to slow it down a bit, stop and smell the proverbial roses, and stop moving so fast:

This is the Weekend Open Thread, so you know what to do – share whateve is on your minds, be it politics, music, jokes, or whatever.

Hope your weekend is a good one, and doesn’t go by too fast…

You ain’t kidding about time going faster as you get older. It seems Lou and I are constantly talking about how this week “flew” by and often it is a month that seemed to go by so fast.

It used to be the winter months, especially after Christmas just seemed to drag on and on. Now? zippppppppppppppppppp and they are almost gone. Maybe it was the warmer winter with less know but I don’t think so.

Good luck with the move. I HATE moving and in your case, when you thought yourself settled for life on your beautiful island in your much-loved house the move into another great place with another great house must be bitter sweet.

I am sure in the end it will all be worthwhile and you will be happy and content – what fisherwoman wouldn’t be with that dock?

But it’s getting there from here is the problem. Especially when not in the best of health. Let’s hope that the time from now to then will fly by too. It’s only fair!

So, so true, Marge – time really has a way of getting away now, doesn’t it? I cannot believe that it will soon be April. How the hell did THAT happen?! Wow!

And thank you – you summed it up well – it is very hard t move from the log home we built as our “dream home,” though we are glad that the new owners love it, and since they own the lot next to us, already wanted to live here, so there is that. But I guess dreams change, especially where one’s health is concerned. I will be SO much closer to, well, EVERYTHING, including my doctors, which is no small thing.

And then there’s the dock! I wish you and Lou could come down for a week of fishing and crabbing! Catching crabs there is a BREEZE – can’t wait to do more of that soon,

Oh, and our boat is going to be ready sooner than we thought. That makes us happy, a good thing since this final stretch with the house is stressing the BEJEEZUS out of us both…

Soon, it will be behind us – whew!

WaPo: Immigrants Are Starving Themselves To Avoid Deportation. Problem: There’s No Solid Evidence

The Washington Post is really tugging at the heart strings with this piece about immigrants avoiding applying for food stamps because it might catch the attention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The new headline is “Immigrants are going hungry so Trump won’t deport them,” which was changed from the initial headline that’s still in the URL: “Immigrants are now canceling their food stamps for fear that Trump will deport them.”

Illegal alien households are receiving food stamps. Illegals cannot apply for food stamps for themselves, but they can for their children who are citizens through the 14th Amendment. In the Post article, we can’t even confirm that because the publication admitted that their story is based on anecdotal evidence, and they were unable to talk to any family who purportedly decided to withdraw from the food stamp program (via WaPo) [emphasis mine]:

FAKE NEWS: Did Trump Just Kill Meals On Wheels? Not Even Close.

It’s time for the media to portray President Trump as cruel and evil. It’s harder for the media to do this with Trump than it has been with other Republicans, simply because Trump constantly uses the rhetoric of big government, guaranteeing Americans that their entitlements won’t be affected in any serious way. But with the presentation of his proposed budget, Democrats and the media finally pounced: Trump wants to kill old people by cutting funding to Meals on Wheels!

Trump isn’t killing Meals on Wheels. But the damaging media coverage has many Republicans cowering in fear. As usual.

Good Lord, I am so sick of the histrionics from the press corps! What in the hell has happened to journalism in this country? Are they now just buying supermarket tabloids as a substitute for journalism school, or are those schools teaching tabloid reporting? Regardless, it needs to stop!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

The MSM has turned journalism into feelings as has the idiot Judge in Hawaii who is blocking Trump’s latest attempt to keep some of the worst people from the ME out.

All about feelings and very little about brains. As Trump would say, “sad.”

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is astonishing to see the extent of feeling-based decision making where logic should prevail. The law is one place in which feelings should be kept in check.

I suppose we can thank liberal educators for where we are now.

Media Meltdown: PolitiFact Says It Is ‘Not a Crime’ To Be An Illegal Alien

One thing I’ve noticed about the national media, most especially our phony fact-checkers, like Snopes, The Washington Post, and PolitiFact, is that the more they are caught lying, the worse they get. When caught, rather than behave like professionals and right the ship, these leftists become even more unhinged until they are reduced to becoming trolls, outlets unconcerned with journalistic integrity but eager to get bigger and bigger rises out of the Right. This is called a meltdown.

With their credibility shot and ability to persuade a thing of the past, all that remains is a childish belligerence that results in the fact-checker becoming more and more outrageous with their claims. Case in point … PolititFact’s hilarious claim that it is “not a crime” to be in the United States illegally.

First off, crossing the border illegally actually is a crime. It is called illegal entry. Even American citizens who enter their own country illegally, say, to avoid customs, are committing a crime. Try dodging customs and see if you aren’t in all kinds of legal trouble.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thank you for this – isn’t it INCREDIBLE that an outlet like that would try and claim “illegal entry” is not, well ILLEGAL??

I love the use of the term, “belligerence.” That is EXACTLY how they are acting!

I usually enjoy articles from the Daily Wire. Maybe I’m just biased, because I like Ben Shapiro so much, but I find their content very informative and they don’t talk down to their readers. I like that.

I also like the Federalist and Conservative review and good content can be found elsewhere. I just tend to favor the Daily Wire.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I really like the Daily Wire, too. That and The Federalist are my “go-to” sources first, then others after that. You are right in your assessment abt them, IMHO. Smart writing, not condescending, and informative. 🙂

    http://www.libertyheadlines.com/fox-tv-star-adam-pally-kill-trump/

Note that this imbecile wouldn’t travel back to kill Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot or Mao – just Trump. They are only guilty of the deaths of millions of people. He’s guilty of being a legitimately elected POTUS. There really is no cure for stupid.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I was watching the news this morning and saw how Liberals drummed a music store out of business for the crime of voting for Trump. I kid you not. This is beyond bullying – THIS is what Fascism is, for all those snowflakes who keep claiming that is what Trump is.. If he WAS, they would all be thrown in jail.

Anyway – as much as I disliked Obama, and now Trump, I would never try to force a company out of business for that and that alone. We have seriously lost the edge in this country.

WHAT? Arizona Billboard Shows Trump As Nuclear Nazi

The billboard art was commissioned by the billboard owner, Beatrice Moore, a longtime patron of the arts on Grand Avenue.

“Some of these issues are so important you can’t not speak out,” Moore said in an interview.

The Trump billboard went up Friday at 11th Avenue and Grand, to coincide with the start of the annual three-day Art Detour event in downtown Phoenix. Moore said it would remain up as long as Trump is president.

I don’t suppose it ever occurred to this twit, or her supporters left and right, that if Trump really was a dictator or a Nazi that their sorry a$$es would have long since be hauled off to some concentration camp where they would have been invited to shower with a stone bar of soap.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No kidding. This kind of thing just continues to highlight the histrionics, lack of historical perspective, and sheer lunacy of the Left. WTH is WRONG with people?!

  11. piper Says:

What these people refuse to acknowledge is that most of the Trump voters were outraged (although silent without hysterical protests) and voted demanding change to the democrat hypocrisy of snowflakes, so-called racism and victims, and pity party behaviors. These ‘idjits’ have no idea of what life under communism and radical islam is really like and how ‘freedom’ is controlled according ideology not people’s little wants.

Amy, although moving is always stressful, having moved multiple times to different midwest states, the joy of living and exploring new home / environment has proven to be enlightening – well for me after learning how to get from one end of town to another.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it, piper – that is just it – they have n idea how mad they are making people as they engage in their ridiculous outrage over, well, since they can’t say exactly what, who knows, besides them not getting their way and hating Trump so. I said to Suzy just this morning that no matter how much many of us disliked Obama, we sure as hell didn’t act like this! It is just absurd!

Thanks, piper – I appreciate that! I have made many moves over the years, and Suzy even more (she’s an Army brat), but it is always stressful, and always so much to do. Add to that the last minute issues that keep cropping up with the new place a WEEK before we are supposed to move, and yeah – there’s a reason I still have Shingles 🙂

Fortunately, we are familiar with the area to which we are moving, thank heavens. It is SO much closer to everything – our fave grocery store, our vet (which is in the same center as our grocery store), closer to our Jordan, to Tractor Supply, and MUCH closer to the airport for Suzy. That is the main reason we are moving – proximity. That’s the only way we could pry ourselves our of our log home…

Great comment, and thanks for the support!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I never understood it, either. How in the hell did they go from the “cool” guy to the old man screaming at them to get off his lawn? Never mind the idiocy he spewed…

    The Dictators Club

‘Over time, the U.N. has gained the nickname The Dictator’s Club for its membership inclusion of regimes and dictatorships and for ongoing scandals including child rape by official U.N. peacekeepers. Recently, the U.N. began pushing U.N. Agenda 2030 or “Declaration of Interdependence” to combine the countries of the world into one group controlled by a handful of potentates.

Thomson Reuters Foundation editor-in-chief Belinda Goldsmith puts the cost of implementing Agenda 2030 at $172.5 trillion. (Turns out international coercion ain’t cheap.) Agenda 2030 calls for replacing nationalism with globalism to the extent that: “All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan,” adopt “shared” wealth; and require “all learners” to embrace common definitions of “cultural diversity,” “gender equality” and “global citizenship.”

Let’s think about how this would work…

Facebook recognizes 71 genders including “Neutrois,” “T* woman” and “Two-spirit,” yet less than one percent of American adults identify with the even the commonly understood term of “transgender.” South Korea has a history of open cultural bribery; most Western countries do not. Australia embraces merit-based citizenship; Sweden embraces open borders.

Even with $172.5 trillion, how do you force the world’s population to agree on gender equality, cultural diversity and global citizenship by 2030—without bloodshed?

Yes, we are a global community—especially in terms of technology. It does not follow, however, that every country should embrace identical priorities and principles. Ultimately, every country is distinctive due to its economic output, culture, and foreign affairs.’
