📺 Rachel Maddow – Ideologue 📺 Open Thread

Rachel Maddow is reportedly a very smart woman. She holds a doctorate in politics from the University of Oxford. She is a Rhodes Scholar which is certainly an achievement that tends to prove that she has a better than average IQ. If so that intellect took a back seat to her ideology last week when she promised a bombshell, although to be fair she didn’t use those words, and delivered a fizzle.

Maddow delivered a punch to herself that her many detractors could only have dreamed of delivering. She fizzled on live television and the egg on her face will never completely go away.

Maddow let her rabid hatred of Trump get ahead of her intellect and common sense thereby made a laughing stock of herself on national television. People can forgive you for being wrong. When you make yourself and their cause a laughing stock, perhaps that is not so forgivable. Especially by those who expected more of you.

For those who dislike her, I am among them, her stupid decision was a gift. Many years ago, when I still considered myself a Democrat I listened to Maddow on Air America. She was too far left for me so I stopped listening long before Air America fell apart and departed the airwaves.

However two of it’s “stars” not only survived, they thrived. Al Franken went on to  become Minnesota’s Senator and Maddow got her own nationally televised show. She is often a guest on late night programs. She has, arrived. Now she has, with this stupid decision, given all of those who disliked her a chance to not only take potshots at her rabid left beliefs but at her.

Maddow, having made an absolute ass of herself then decided it would be a good idea to blame, not herself, but her viewers.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow must be getting salty after she had the greatest fake news reveal of all time, as she is now blaming her audience for it.

Maddow lashed out to the Associated Press (AP), stating, “Because I have information about the president doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a scandal. If other people leapt to that conclusion without me indicating that it was, that hype is external to what we did.”

This is revisionist history. Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro noted that “the buildup was immense” to Maddow’s big reveal, since she was the one that hyped the tax returns on Twitter and began her show “with one of her patented, long-winded wind-ups” before revealing that Trump paid millions of dollars in taxes.

Not a great decision Rachel. An apology, a short mea culpa and move on. Do not – ever – blame your viewers. It is dumb. Fortunately many won’t know because they aren’t very informed. That you made a fool of yourself is something even the uninformed now know.

Michael Goodwin:Rachel Maddow’s Trump ‘bombshell’ completely backfired

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you. Then there’s Rachel Maddow, who stuck her head in the bear’s mouth while talking trash. Chomp!

It wouldn’t be fair to call her Tuesday night show the TV flop seen ’round the world. It was worse than that. Much worse.

It was a gut-punch embarrassment to Maddow, to MSNBC, to NBC and to all the lefties who bought her afternoon tweet that “We’ve got Trump tax returns.” Were she selling stocks, she’d be busted for running a pump-and-dump scam.

Cartoonists and columnists had a wonderful time making fun of her. And they made fun of her station which must have made them very happy. MSNBC often fights for viewers and Maddow’s tweet about her having “Trump’s Tax Returns” no doubt garnered more viewers than usual for her show. In this case that was not a good thing.

Cartoonists both left and right excoriated her. Nate Beeler among them.

Conservative Review was factual if not kind:

Rachel Maddow humiliates herself with Trump taxes fake news story

A.F. Branco far from kind:

And so it went:

Katie Pavlich and  others had a different take on the whole debacle:

Katie Pavlich: Rachel Maddow Fell For An Obvious Setup On Trump’s Tax Return

Maddow’s first clue was the limited number of pages of a single return released. If someone with malicious intent or even someone who believes the public has a right know, really wanted to make a difference by exposing Trump’s tax returns, they would have leaked at least ten years and dozens of pages. After all, unauthorized release of tax returns is a felony. Why risk federal prison for two pages?

More likely? Someone close to Trump, either at the White House or through his business, placed the return in the mailbox as a lure.

Blinded by her hatred for Trump and Russian derangement, Maddow failed to slow down, take a breathe and think about the information in her possession. She not only embarrassed herself, but the left as a whole.

Pavlich could well be right. I don’t know what to think. But I “think” it’s hilarious that people that insist Trump and his administration are too dumb to tie their own shoes are now screeching about this “troll” of Maddow. Not to mention the MSM. Also the Twittidiots.

And to add insult to injury there was this:

On “America’s News HQ”, Geraldo Rivera said Maddow had her own “Al Capone’s vault” moment. That’s gotta sting.

    The Dictators Club

‘Over time, the U.N. has gained the nickname The Dictator’s Club for its membership inclusion of regimes and dictatorships and for ongoing scandals including child rape by official U.N. peacekeepers. Recently, the U.N. began pushing U.N. Agenda 2030 or “Declaration of Interdependence” to combine the countries of the world into one group controlled by a handful of potentates.

Thomson Reuters Foundation editor-in-chief Belinda Goldsmith puts the cost of implementing Agenda 2030 at $172.5 trillion. (Turns out international coercion ain’t cheap.) Agenda 2030 calls for replacing nationalism with globalism to the extent that: “All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan,” adopt “shared” wealth; and require “all learners” to embrace common definitions of “cultural diversity,” “gender equality” and “global citizenship.”

Let’s think about how this would work…

Facebook recognizes 71 genders including “Neutrois,” “T* woman” and “Two-spirit,” yet less than one percent of American adults identify with the even the commonly understood term of “transgender.” South Korea has a history of open cultural bribery; most Western countries do not. Australia embraces merit-based citizenship; Sweden embraces open borders.

Even with $172.5 trillion, how do you force the world’s population to agree on gender equality, cultural diversity and global citizenship by 2030—without bloodshed?

Yes, we are a global community—especially in terms of technology. It does not follow, however, that every country should embrace identical priorities and principles. Ultimately, every country is distinctive due to its economic output, culture, and foreign affairs.’

A college degree doesn’t mean you’re smart and in Rachel’s case, a mockery of higher education similar to the Nobel Peace Prize bought for Obama.

I believe Bill Clinton is also a “Rhodes Scholar”. Being smart doesn’t mean you are right, or decent, or honest.

Bill Clinton was a very smart man who has let his sexual appetite get in the way of his brain his whole life.

Maddow let her rabid lefty hate of the right in general, and Trump in particular override her brain. Not uncommon when you are rabid about something.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes, you are right – Clinton is a Rhodes Scholar. And as we know, just because one has an education doesn’t mean one has any common sense. The latter seems to be sorely lacking these days…

    Gorsuch confirmation hearing starts today:

Daniel Horowitz:15 questions that will, without a doubt, confirm whether Gorsuch is an originalist

After getting burned on all but four of the past 17 Supreme Court picks and countless lower court nominees, Republicans promised themselves they’d never nominate another judge without first knowing where he stands on the key constitutional issues facing this country.

Thus far, the little we know of Neil Gorsuch seems solid. However, given that the “legal right” has become much more libertarian than social conservative, we only hear about the administrative state, criminal justice issues, campaign finance, and guns. They tend to be more concerned with using judicial supremacy to strike down big government laws and actions from the Left than preventing that courts from destroying our Constitution, values, borders, marriage, life, and civilization.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I heard today that Gorsuch said the Constitution is his master, or words to that effect. Love it!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I watched his opening statement. He was great. I don’t know what kind of a Justice he will be, I’m sure he’ll be confirmed, but he seems a great human being. That’s a start in the right direction.

Sorry to be so late to the party, Marge. had PT this morning, then ended up being at the new house all afternoon. Just got home abt an hr ago. Whew, long day.

Anyway, EXCELLENT post! Love it! Thanks for this – had me cracking up…

I developed a real antipathy towards Rachel Maddow when I inadvertently caught part of her program where she and Ann Marie Cox were making disgusting jokes about “Tea Baggers” and how they were so stupid they didn’t know what that meant in the Gay community.

I didn’t know either so with my usual dedication to learning new things I scurried off to find out what it meant. I wish I had not.

So when ever women like Maddow or Cox mention how repulsive Trump is I remember that conversation on Maddow’s show and I see nothing but a disgusting hypocrite.

We who laugh last laughed longest Rachel – and the schadenfreude is divine!
