🗣 Adults Say The Darndest Things ➖ Open Thread

Back in the day when Art Linkletter wrote books about the amusing and sometimes startling responses he got when asking children questions. They, the children were amusing.

When adults say clever things that is laudable. When they say silly or stupid things, it isn’t. When they insist on speaking when they have no idea what they are talking about it should be embarrassing. Instead we have a population of fools that blurt out whatever is on the top of their mind, be it ever so foolish, and then inflict it on the rest of us.

I think of it as random nonsense. Yet when it is written in a speech is it random? Or is the written, typed, or texted word planned nonsense?

If seems to me, and I could be wrong, that far too many people are so intent on saying something that the fact they are speaking is more important to them than what they are saying.

Social media is full of people so full of themselves that they persist in letting the world know, in 144 characters or less, that they don’t know what they hell they are talking about.

Politicians on the other hand are not just the common folk, they are representatives of the people. They were elected by the people. Many, with the brainpower of a dust bunny get re-elected year after year. Shouldn’t what they say be sensible if not intelligent?

One example is Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. He says he’s an Independent, always votes with the Democrats, and is in reality a Socialist. He is the darling of the younger set for some reason. They listen to his nonsense as if he were the fount of all knowledge.

Yet Sanders, who shares former Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore’s passion for preaching brimstone and fire on climate change, has called for the prosecution of climate change skeptics. Yup, if you don’t agree with him and the Climate Change religion he wants you prosecuted. He’s said so.

At one time in this democratic Republic that would have ended his political career. Not today – nonsense and attacks on free speech are now in style and Socialists like Sanders are free to spout their hogwash with no repercussions.

Pseudo celebrities like the always contemptible Lena Dunham are free, because we respect the 1st Amendment, to say all the stupid things they want to say. And they/she takes full advantage of that freedom.

You can find more of her idiotic mouthiness here if you’re interested.

Dunham is one of the left’s nastier darlings. A nasty, immoral, liar is just what they want your daughters to pattern themselves after. If it was good enough for the Obama girls…

Who better to exemplify someone who is better off when silent than House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi?

She famously said we need to pass ObamaCare to find out what’s in it.

A couple of months ago, Pelosi was under the impression that George Bush is the current president.

A month before that she thought Hillary Clinton was the president.

Pelosi said disarming Americans and giving amnesty to illegal aliens would make our country safer.

She said Bill Clinton’s rapes and sexual assaults were in the past so they didn’t matter.

Pelosi called all House Republicans racist, including the minority members.

She insisted that because she had given birth to a litter of children that it made her an expert on abortion.

How about the former president, Barack Obama, who was protected from his own foolishness and stupid statements by his adoring  fans, AKA the MSM. Here are a few of his silly little gems:

Obama tells business owners and entrepreneurs “If you got a business, you didn’t build that, you didn’t make it on your own.”

Obama calls the British Embassy, the “English Embassy”

Obama calls Navy Corpsman (pr. core-man) “corpse-man”

Obama says there are “57 States”

Obama claimed that “America built the Intercontinental Railroad”

Politicians have nothing on the nitwits in Hollywood who insist on inflicting their stupidity on the rest of us.

Take Katy Perry discussing Japanese people in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“I’m so obsessed with you I want to skin you and wear you like Versace.”

Who can forget the things said by Hollywood pinhead who morphed into California’s Governor and the things he said. Although I’ve always thought that the fact he was elected Governor doesn’t say more about the stupidity of the voters than Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Says the Terminator:”I think that gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman.”

https://i2.wp.com/www.coolfunnyquotes.com/images/quotes/difference-stupid-genius.jpg

Gwyneth Paltrow is another Hollywood celeb who is much better off when mouthing the words written by someone else. When she speaks on her own the stupid leaks out.

How about this elitist little gem:

“I am who I am. I can’t pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year.”

Come now, you know that if she was in character as Pepper Potts in one of the Marvel movies she would never have said something that stupid. Personally I think that if Tony Stark, AKA, Ironman, really wants to settle down to one woman, he could do better.

One more little Paltrowesque bit of nonsense before I move on:

On living in Europe: “It is so different from the United States. It seemed to have a history, and the buildings are years and years and years old. Here in the United States an old building is about 17 (years old), and over there it’s from 500 B.C., it’s incredible.”

This is not to let ordinary people off the hook. It’s just that many/most of the stupid things we say don’t make it into the public domain. Or they didn’t. Social Media struck and now saying stupid things  are for everyone. Except us old fuddies that don’t do Social Media.

How about these little gems:

I was wondering why the Frisbee was getting bigger… Then it hit me.

I never apologize. I’m sorry, that’s just the way I am.

The following statement is true. The previous statement is false.

If you ever decide to leave me, I’m going with you.

If you don’t know what you are talking about, at least act like you do.

Second is the first loser.

Me? Fail English!? … That’s unpossible!

Sadly I could go on and on. The problem wasn’t finding material, it was picking which to use with so many choices.

But always remember, that WE are not THEM. That’s a comfort? Isn’t it?

    OMG where to begin. LOL
    Thanks Marge!

Glad you liked it Cindi – I absolutely didn’t know where to begin, there was so much material. Then once started I didn’t know where to end.

Very funny post, Marge – thank you!

I shared this with Marge earlier, but this is a conversation between one of my nieces and her 7 year old (home schooled) daughter: While (my daughter) and I were on our way home earlier she tried to convince me to go “galavanting.” To Lowe’s or Kohl’s or Target. I said, “We are going to go galavanting home.” She responded, “I don’t think you know what galavanting means.” 😂

    Ahahahahaha…

    And talk about silly…

Kurt Schlichter: I Am a Victim of Your Hateful Hate Crimes, You Hate-Criminals

As a person of absolutely no color who embodies an intersectional reality that includes my utter lack of genderfluidity and my unemployment-questioning, differently-veteraned, and non-pagan experiences, I am totally oppressed by progressivism’s hegemonic power structure. I am also the victim of a systemic system of hostile paradigms that denies my truth regarding my phallo-possessory identity.

My struggle is real, and my male-identifying genitalia will no longer be silent!

This is a real laugh fest but it also contains a lot of truth. Good laugh fests usually do.

Check out what Evan McMullin told the FEC about his outstanding vendor invoices

Evan McMullin’s presidential campaign tells FEC it initially didn’t realize it had to report ~$575k in outstanding vendor invoices as debts.

This latest from true conservative Evan McMullin just isn’t believable. In what world would anyone think that outstanding invoices wouldn’t be counted as debts on FEC reports?

I voted for this idiot instead of either Trump or Hillary. Better I had left the top blank or written in Daffy Duck. I owe an apology to every Trump voter I ever called stupid.

President Trump has signed an executive order to give Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos permission to start the process of moving education back to the local level.

Napolitano’s UC hid $175 million while demanding money, audit says

The University of California hid a stash of $175 million in secret funds while its leaders requested more money from the state, an audit released on Tuesday said.

“I’ve never had a situation like that in my 17 years as state auditor,” Howle said. “My attorneys are looking at whether any improper government activities occurred.”

The UC Board of Regents is now hearing calls to overturn its decision to increase tuition this fall by 2.5 percent.

Howle said Napolitano also overcharged the system’s 10 campuses to fund its operations, paid its employees significantly more than state employees and interfered in the auditing process.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Holy. Crap. Still continuing the scandalous ways of the Obama White House, I see!

      • Cindyindie Says:

        Exactly!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

She pretty much did what she wanted at homeland – looks like she thought she could continue to do just that. Don’t know what will come of this but at least one courageous auditor called her out on it.
