ツ Cartoon Commentary ➖ Open Thread

It is Monday again and  I’ll let some great cartoons do most of my talking for me. Some are brand new- fresh off the assembly line and some are a little older. All are, IMO, great.

One thing that has become plain is the dissatisfaction of some on the left with Minority Leader Pelosi. She who raises millions and spends it to lose elections.

We had hoped they wouldn’t notice because she’s one of the best fundraising people the Republicans have. Glenn McCoy shows what some on the left think is a proper response to her obliviousness to the idea that maybe her time has come to go gently into that good night.

Joe Heller has a very funny take on the new idea of a Ken doll with a man bun. At least I think it’s funny.

The shooting of Representative Scalise brought out a momentary feeling of decency in Democrats which soon dissipated. Many of the cartoonists made note of that and were not pleased. The cartoonist who drew the cartoon below that skewers their ugliness is   David Hitch.

Other cartoonists are having a field day with the Democrats determination to destroy themselves. The one below is from Rick Kollinger. In case you’re interested in what makes cartoonists tick here’s a little information from and about Rick Kollinger:

Noting that most of his readers’ favorites were not his own personal choices, he says, “It just shows that different people like different cartoons for different reasons.”

Another question Kollinger is asked frequently is why did he become a cartoonist and columnist. His answer: “A lack of ambition.”

The cartoon below from Chip Bok pretty much expresses most of cartoon world’s opinion of Dennis Rodman and his latest antics.

Matt Wuerker’s take on all the winning from the Dems in Special Elections sums up what most of the cartoon world thinks. It’s amusing that the left is still making fun of Trump’s campaign comments about people getting tired of all the winning when they are trying to portray their loses as some kind of a win.

Cartoonist Jose Neves is new find for me but he certainly shows the crazy coming from the left perfectly in the cartoon below. I’m going to keep an eye out for more of his work. What little I researched shows someone all over the place. If he’s one of the rare ones that just see crazy not partisanship then he’s a gem.

A great cartoon showing the Pelosi love from the right from Rob Rogers of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Again some love from the left for the House Minority Leader by Steve Breen of the San Diego Union Tribune. San Diego? California? I’ll bet letters to the editor are calling for his head. Unless maybe even Californians are tired of all the winning with Pelosi.

Great cartoon from Bruce Tinsley telling this sad truth to 2017 graduates. Tinsley is also the creator of the Mallard Fillmore cartoons.

Mike Smith of the Las Vegas Sun has something to say about all the Democrat winning too.

No cartoon collection from me would be complete without my favorite, Michael Ramirez. He and Branco are IMO the very best with some great cartoonists close on their heels. We may not have a lot of great columnists on the right, although we have some, but we have a wealth of  great cartoonists.

Speaking of A.F. Branco, here’s his latest and it is, IMO, fantastic! The Democrats and many anti-Trump people on the right assure us that Robert Mueller is a wonderful man and as honest as the day is long. I remember when they said the same thing about James Comey.

Mike Lester seems to think that perhaps the GOP plan to replace Obamacare needs some more work. So do Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Ron Johnson, the fantastic 4 IMO. Glad to see my Senator in such good company.

I absolutely love this Gary Varvel cartoon! But then I usually love his cartoons. He is one of the very best IMO. The perfection of this cartoon showing the stupidity and desperation of those determined to portray Trump as some kind of Russian mole is priceless.

Robert Arial has a great cartoon lampooning the GOP for their failure to keep their promise about repealing and replacing Obamacare.

Bob Gorrell skewers congress. He does it so well. Doubt many on the left or the right would argue with his take.

Let’s end this cartoon commentary with this:

Benjamin Franklin’s “Join or Die“, which depicts a snake whose severed parts represent the Colonies, is acknowledged as the first political cartoon in America.

Never pegged ol Ben Franklin as a cartoonist but then not surprised either. The man was  talented in so many ways that modern politicians simply aren’t up to his standard.

The sun is shining, it’s warm not hot, there are many baby tomatoes all over both of our tomato plants and God’s in his heaven. I cannot say all’s right with the world. But I can wish you a

Love Cartoon Monday! Thanks for sharing all of these great finds, Marge. Well done!

The SCOTUS has come out abt the whole Travel Ban thing. They’ll hear the case, and have mostly reversed the ban: http://therightscoop.com/breaking-supreme-court-agrees-to-hear-trumps-travel-ban-reverses-ban-on-most-of-it/

Wow, “Supreme Court will review Trump travel ban, allows it to take effect in most instances.”

      I am happily surprised.

This should get the left something else to get all riled up about. Especially the usual suspects at CNN and the NYT.

Obamacare Debate Is Largely About Welfare For Unhealthy Middle-Class Americans

Republican reforms to Obamacare are staggering through the legislative process, accompanied by a cacophony of overwrought commentary. Many on the Left insist that Republican health-care proposals are going to kill a lot of people.

But pre-Obamacare America was not a Dickensian dystopia where the poor died in droves for lack of basic health care, and that won’t happen in a post-Obamacare (or a modified Obamacare) America either.

“Voters have been telling pollsters since Trump was elected: Sure, we don’t love him, but we love Democrats less. When it comes to the crucial in- or out-of-touch metric, Trump and Republicans have been seen as more in touch with the problems of average Americans than Democrats have.” ~ Mary Katherine Ham

Maxine Waters Gets Shredded By Black Trump Supporter — ‘You Have Destroyed The Black Community!’

Inside her California town hall on Saturday, race-baiting Rep. Maxine Waters was leading a chant — “Impeach 45! Impeach 45!”

Outside, a black Trump supporter was completely destroying Waters. Yelling into a bullhorn, the unnamed woman said:

“People are tired with your hate and your racism! All the jobs went to illegals! You have destroyed the black community! You are a black racist! You hate blacks! All the jobs went to illegals! You gave our jobs to illegals! We want you out!”

Looks like some of her constituents have “Auntie Maxine’s” number. About dang time!
