Β
phoΒ·ny informal
noun: impostor, sham, fake, fraud, charlatan
plural noun: phonies
Looking around at all the finger pointing phonies that inhabit our prints media, our airwaves, blogs, pundits and pundidiots it is no wonder that most citizens no longer are willing to take responsibility for their actions – it seems no one is.
Oh yeah, occasionally caught doing something stupid, corrupt or criminal some bloviating politician will make some self-serving speech about taking full responsibility and then try to show how it really wasn’t their fault. Cowards and hypocrites are our most prolific political crop.
Political cartoonists, for the most part, skewer these people. Cartoonists, like most media, come in fit-your-bias catagories.Β  Some are good, some not so good and some are just ranting leftists with pictures. I tend to keep my distance from them.
As I lean right I like the cartoons that do that too. But that isn’t enough. Some cartoonists lean too far right for me and others are too soft on the GOP. So let’s take a look at what I found today:
Dana Summers cartoon expressed the short-lived truce while all rushed to show that now that John McCain has cancer they can’t attack him like before. Simply not done, donchaknow.

xJOCVmV.jpg

I have always respected John McCain’s service to his country, his incredible courage while a “guest” at the Hanoi Hilton, and usually not respected or liked his politics. All that goes out the window as we pray that cancer, that killer that respects neither left or right, black or white and every being that breaths attacked him. We pray he, who is a fighter no matter what else you think of him, will win this latest fight. Pray for John McCain and his family.

Walt Handelsman has an amusing 4 panel that sums up the public’s impression of politics and the media quite well I thought. He’s always clever and this time, IMO, right on target. Well done Walt!

Bob Gorrell expresses his opinion, and the opinion a lot of us hold, of Robert Mueller’s witch-hunt investigation. But, but Mueller was a marine, but, but he is an honest man.

So, supposedly was Lt. General Mike Flynn until he wasn’t. He served in the United States Army for 33 years. Service in the military doesn’t make for an honest politician. Especially since Mueller isn’t even attempting to hide his bias.

Mike Lester chooses to comment about the scandal, that isn’t being covered much, aboutΒ  how the USPS broke law in allowing workers to boost Clinton campaign

Steve Kelly’s comment on the Democrats is brilliant. That would be in my opinion. Cartoonists are always brilliant when they agree with me.

A.F. Branco and his astute assessment of any attempt by the Republicans to get a fair shake from the media.

Β

Tom Stiglich shows in his shrewd cartoon that the left still doesn’t get it. Trump didn’t get elected because he’s wonderful or wise, he was something different. Many millions of Americans are sick and tired of same-old/same-old. The problem, thus far with Trump, IMO, is that he hasn’t the capacity to discipline himself to take advantage of that loathing of politics as usual.

I don’t know who did this cartoon but it shows not so much where kids are at but where a lot of voters are at.

More wisdom out of the mouths of babes drawn by Charlie Daniel.

Gary Varvel, always a favorite of mine, shows the way Pence is being treated. Is it because he’s mostly kept his head down? Is it because they don’t want to damage him once they succeed in taking Trump out? With Trump’s help of course. WTH?

I agree that Pence would act more presidential. He would also act like most GOP presidents in that he would cave to media and lefty pressure. In my humble opinion, Pence is a very nice wuss.

Political Cartoons by Gary Varvel

Chip Bok shows how Trump refuses to take advice. Just let’s it roll off him. I don’t think that’s a good way to be a Teflon President. But that’s just me.

That’s all I’ve got. Enjoy your day, it’s a beauty here in SE Wisconsin – not so hot, lots of sun and not as windy as it’s been so much of the time lately.

Dang, Marge – you just keep knocking them out of the park! What a great collection of spot on cartoons. Outstanding!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Thank you. The cartoonists do all the work – I just get the fun of searching them out. Honestly there are so many I have a really difficult time choosing.

The one about the postal workers really caught my eye because we’ve heard so little about that.

The USPS broke the law. They violated the Hatch Act. Now what? Crickets from the MSM. It’s what cause so much anger from voters on the right. Maybe that’s the whole idea, angry people don’t think things through. Angry people aren’t reasonable. At least I’m not.
      When I’m angry that is.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That really is astonishing abt the USPS workers they should be held fully accountable to the law, as should other government workers who violated the Hatch Act for Hillary.

And thank you for highlighting that – it is the first I have heard of it!

        • kenoshamarge Says:

If you didn’t hear about it, and you work to be informed, can you imagine how many people haven’t a clue what happened?

The whole idea that this is a “nation of laws” is being proved false more and more every day. It’s a nation of laws that are enforced on a haphazard or ideological or political agenda. That isn’t a nation of laws, that’s a banana republic.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

If it came out in the past couple of weeks, that could be why, but even still, I do see a fair number of stories in my in-box from a number of different sites (though AOL has decided to end my daily Hill emails – go figure). And yeah, hadn’t seen that. I had seen stories during the Election of different people in Gov’t violating the Hatch Act, though naturally, nothing came of it. Apparently, that is where we are these days…

  2. kenoshamarge Says:

Let me start by saying I am NOT a fan of Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The kindest I can be is to say I think she’s a sycophantic fool. But this is wrong…

Silence Is Consent: MSM Covers Up Journalist’s ‘Butch Queen’ Attack On Sarah Huckabee Sanders

If the mainstream media wants to know why they no longer possess any moral authority with the American people, why they no longer have the influence they once did to shape public opinion and the outcome of elections, why their approval rating is half that of President Trump’s, the past four days, in which one of their very own attacked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as a “butch queen,” will help to explain that.

A good faith look through the Google machine shows that not a single mainstream media outlet picked the story up.

    Not one.

    Nothing at CNN.

    Not a peep from Politico.

Not a sound from NBC News.

Not a squeak from The Washington Post.

Not a squeal from The New York Times.

You might argue that a dumb tweet from a jerk-off journalist actually doesn’t rank as a news story. Okay. Explain to me, then, how an innocuous Facebook post from a nobody-GOP staffer constructively critical of Barack Obama’s daughters earned 26 stories at The Washington Post, countless segments on CNN, endless blasts from NBC News… A relentless pounding until this poor woman was forced to resign.

Right there with you both on Sanders AND the lack of coverage this generated. So tired of the hypocrisy…

Did you happen to see this nonsense?

New York Times Reporter Says White Women On Sidewalks Are Racist

Reporter Greg Howard accuses white women on sidewalks of being racist in a New York Times essay titled “Was That Racist.”

You see, Howard is convinced “almost all” white women refuse to move out of his way when he walks toward them on the sidewalk, forcing him “off the sidewalk completely.” The reason for this likely exaggerated or completely made-up observation? Racism, of course.

I saw the headline yesterday and just shook my head at the insanity we seem to treat as “normal” these days…

Maybe he should get a therapy pet and have a safe space to crawl into after having to fight these awful women on a daily basis. As my little nephew used to say – so sad too bad.

      Enough!

The cartoon you had abt McCain was in our paper recently.

And speaking of McCain, there was this piece in Faithwire abt McCain and his daughter: http://www.faithwire.com/2017/07/24/john-mccains-surprising-father-daughter-outing-once-again-proves-theres-very-little-that-can-hold-him-down/

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I have often questioned McCain’s politics, but never his courage. His courage is amazing.

No doubt of the love between father and daughter.

I just wish he would, and this has nothing to do with his politics, stop with the political crap and spend whatever time he has, long or short, with his family. He’s 80 years old, time to allow others to take up the torch. Perhaps time for him to support someone else for his seat.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I agree – it is time for McCain to retire and spend the rest of his days with his family. I understand he is a man of service – I get that. But at this point, the “service” should be to his family and giving them the time they deserve.

Btw, Charles Krauthammer said it was NOT a good idea for him to fly back to DC so soon after his surgery due to the changes in air pressure in the plane. But,, back he went!

  7. piper Says:

    Marge and Amy,
Again thanks for keeping this blog going but at this moment I’m too tired to write comments. I somehow feel like we have slipped down Alice’s hole into hypocrisy and slipshod actions.
After 30 years in education, 10 years retired, I could write ‘plenty’ on the changes that have occurred in both regular and special education. Yes education should be left up to the individual states yet I can’t believe the direction(s) Minnesota is barreling in the name of ‘diversity’ exiling the 80/90s familiar (to me) buzzword, multiculturalism to the dustbin.

Now for comment on Trump and his constant twitter meltdowns especially on A.G. Sessions. Yes he needed to recuse himself. If he hadn’t the democrats would have another platform to hang more fake and real charges on Trump who thinks that all lawyers should protect him. Maybe his hired legal team did and can in the business world but the legislature operates under different practices. Personally I believe that Trump and family are / were engaging with various Russian’ businesses although I did not think that they swayed the election to Trump. Most of his problems he’s experiencing now are of his OWN doing. Obviously he thinks he’s above the law and should be protected from the big baddies.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I agree although I don’t think the Trump family or business did anything that many others do all the time. I believe, and it’s just my opinion that the Clinton’s did worse. I’m not even sure anyone actually committed a crime. They’re all just sleazy IMO.

And yes, Trump is his own worst enemy. He acts, and reacts like an adolescent. He’s destroying his own presidency. The left and the lefty media are destroying their own credibility with their foolishness and he’s destroying what little credibility he ever had.

Everybody is always talking about being the “adult in the room” but I see damn few of them.

      • piper Says:

Agree, I’m sure that both Clintons and Obamas were up to their ears in ‘business deals’ probably worse than Trump and his family but he need to stop all the name calling and tweeting which is just feeding the media and the democrats’ behavior.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, piper. And I understand abt comments. What is going on these days is just exhausting. I am so tired of the constant haranguing and fighting. It is just ridiculous. This is NO way to run a country. Both the POTUS and the Congress need to stop bickering already and GET TO WORK.

All of the hearings in both Houses while a special investigation is going on abt the exact same thing seems excessive to me when there is SO much more to be done. I thought that was precisely why they APPOINTED a special investigator – so the Congress could get on with its work.

I am sick to death of hearing abt Russia. Sick of it. And I would not be surprised if the Trump Empire had business dealings in Russia. Many companies do, after all. But that has nothing to do with the Election. Everyone keeps saying there is no evidence that Russia impacted the Election, but on they go wasting our time and money investigating it anyway.

      Ugh.

Ahem. I guess I could have just said, I completely understand and right there with you! πŸ™‚

Thanks for the kind words, piper!

  8. piper Says:

He can either move on from his teenage angst with the tweets or face a bigger loss if he tries to run in 2020. The talk around here is ‘disgust’ with his big mouth, blaming others and lack of action.

The egotist Hillary who thought she had the following states in the bag did not lose by much.
    Wisconsin – approx. 26,000 votes
    Michigan – approx. 10, 000 votes
    Pennsylvania – approx. 46,000 votes

David Harsanyi has an excellent article on the “Factcheckers” lies on Obamacare that go right along with this post. He nails it: http://thefederalist.com/2017/07/25/called-fact-checkers-keep-butchering-facts-obamacare

Gee, turns out the NSA under Obama went too far. Shocking. Not: http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/343785-newly-declassified-memos-detail-extent-of-improper-obama-era-nsa

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Funny how The Hill didn’t work on reporting that until after he left office isn’t it? And funny how other of his corrupt practices were known and not reported by many.

I think the “slobbering love affair” the media had with Obama, even though he treated them like crap, was the straw that broke the camel’s back with the public for the media.

The left and their love of Obama gave this country Trump. They, IMO, are mostly responsible for the man they love to loathe.
