Attacks On ICE, And Is Seattle Dying? *Open Thread*

Political Cartoons by Tom StiglichThis past weekend, we saw two attacks on ICE buildings, one in Tacoma, WA, and one in Aurora, CO. These attacks were in response to ICE stepping up their deportation of people who entered the country illegally, had hearings, and were supposed to leave but didn’t.

The attempts by ICE to remove these criminals was framed by the Democrats/Leftists as an attack on immigrant communities. They even went so far as to coach them – elected Democrat officials – illegal aliens who were supposed to leave the country how to avoid ICE. The ACLU, the organization previously dedicated to defending the Constitution and Bill of Rights, joined in on helping people to break the law.

Frankly, I think every single one of those elected officials who gave aid and comfort to criminals in our country illegally should be brought up on charges. Every single one of them. From US Representatives to Governors, they should be charged.

But at least in one place, New Jersey, sheriffs are enforcing the law despite the directive from – wait for it – their ATTORNEY GENERAL. Let THAT One sink in for a second. The New Jersey AG – the one responsible for law enforcement – has directed law enforcement to not assist ICE. At all. In any way. The Attorney General is directing law enforcement to not enforce the law.

Good. GOD.

Back to the NJ sheriffs, from Townhall:

“…I’m hopeful the State of New Jersey and ICE can come to terms regarding this issue. Cooperation from the federal, state and local level is essential when protecting the public and ensuring that dangerous, undocumented immigrants are not released from jail in order to maintain the safety of our communities,” said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden in a letter obtained by Townhall which was sent on Tuesday.

Golden’s letter was in response to a missive from Veronica Allende, the state’s Director of the Division of Criminal Justice.

In a letter on Monday, Allende excoriated Monmouth County’s Sheriff Golden and Cape May County’s Sheriff Nolan. She suggested they had intentionally circumvented the spirit of NJ Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s new rules by renewing agreements with ICE just before the deadline date of a directive that would have prevented it. Further, she warned them that the AG would issue another directive in August that would render moot the sheriffs’ efforts to continue cooperating with ICE despite the AG’s well-documented objections.

The directive to which Allende referred, called the “Immigrant Trust Directive,” was announced last November and had an effective date of March 15. It was supposed to stop local law enforcement from assisting ICE, in part, by requiring agencies to get the AGs permission before entering into or renewing arrangements with ICE to participate in ICE’s 287(g) program.

Golden and Nolan got in under the wire by renewing existing agreements with ICE in early March and February, respectively. Agreements for both were set to expire at the end of June. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

That was smart of them. It may be short lived, as the article goes on to say, but that New Jersey even has this directive is appalling.

But that just seems to be how the Democrats roll these days, and their anti-ICE rhetoric is having a dangerous result.

In Aurora, CO, over the weekend, there were a number of protesters at the ICE holding facility. That would be one thing – if they were just there to protest ICE (even if they’re wrong).

Mexican Flag, National Banner of Mexico Waving Against Blue SkyBut when they took down the US Flag and raised a MEXICAN flag in its place, along with defacing a Blue Lives Matters US Flag, hanging it upside down with “Abolish ICE” written on it. That makes it a whole different thing.

Former US Ambassador Nikki Haley had something to say about that. From BizPacReview:

On Sunday, Nikki Haley blasted Democrats for their refusal to criticize protesters’ disrespectful pulling down of the U.S. flag and replacing it with a Mexican flag at an ICE facility in Aurora Colorado on Friday.

Effectively speaking on behalf of at least half the country, the former UN ambassador wrote: “There are no words for why the Democrats are staying silent on this. If this is your way to winning an election, fire your strategist. This is disgusting. Love your country. And if you don’t like what is happening then tell the members of Congress to get to work and fix it.”

Democrat 2020 candidate, former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper sidestepped the issue of whether he condemned the act of debasing the flag when he told Fox News:

“Well, I certainly respect the American flag, and my whole life I’ve been fighting to make this country — and to make sure this country welcomes everybody, and that this flag represents everyone,” he said. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

I am still not sure how in the hell they were even allowed to engage in these anti-American activities without being stopped. Sure would love to know how that happened…

But yeah, you go, Amb. Haley! I am glad she called out Democrats for their silence on this. And Hickenlooper’s comments were just typical political hogwash. Ugh.

Meanwhile, the ICE building in Tacoma was attacked by a terrorist who was throwing molotov cocktails and who was armed. He was killed by police. From The Blaze:

Nevertheless, the media has not reported any connection with Antifa, nor are they speculating about what may have motivated this man, who made the attempt to set fire to the building amid protests against the building.

A friend of the man spoke with the Seattle Times. She believes it was his intent that this end in his own death. And her description of him politically should raise the eyebrows of anyone living in the state of Washington. Because it is a familiar one.

Deb Bartley, a friend of Van Spronsen’s for about 20 years, described him as an anarchist and anti-fascist, and she believes his attack on the detention center was intended to provoke a fatal conflict.

“He was ready to end it,” Bartley said. “I think this was a suicide. But then he was able to kind of do it in a way that spoke to his political beliefs … I know he went down there knowing he was going to die.”

She said he is an “anti-fascist.” Yet the press refuses to use the word “antifa” here. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Shockingly, he is now being hailed as a “martyr” by the Antifa types. I suppose if one defines that word the same way some other terrorists define “martyr,” than sure. He’s a “martyr.” Sheesh.

Finally, I caught a “Full Measure” segment about Seattle. It was stunning. Here it is:

Isn’t that just stunning? I shared it with an old friend who worked as a police officer in the Charlotte, NC area, and is now a minister and writer. He sent back the full expose, and wow, is it ever something. It is an hour long, but it is well worth your time:

That is what the Democrat-run city has become. It is staggering. Just staggering. And it is being replicated in other major Democrat-run cities, too.

That is telling.

    Great and important post Rev!

Like you I cannot understand how people sworn to uphold the law can so flagrantly flout it.

Is this what America really wants? Is this what the majority believes should be allowed to happen? Because if so – then no law means anything. None.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      Thanks so much, Marge.

It sure seems like we are headed to lawlessness, especially when you have elected officials flaunt it, as you noted.

And these are the same people who sanctimoniously intone abt the “sanctity of the law,” and how we are a “nation of laws.” Um, yeah – ones they refuse to enforce!

MELTDOWN: Far-Left Congresswomen Implode At Press Conference On Trump Tweets

    By Ryan Saavedra

Omar made multiple false claims during the press conference, saying: “This is a president who has called black athletes ‘sons of b*****s.’ This is a president who has called people who come from black and brown countries ‘sh–holes.’ This is a president who has equated neo-Nazis with those who protest them.”

None of what Omar claimed is true. Trump referred to athletes who kneel during the national anthem as “sons-of-b*****s,” not black athletes. Trump referred to certain countries as “sh-tholes,” not black and brown people. Trump did not equate neo-Nazis with those who protest them, he specifically condemned them.

Omar went on to claim that Trump was accused of criminally colluding with Russia to undermine the U.S. election, despite the fact that Special Counsel Robert Mueller stated in his report on his Russia investigation that the Trump campaign did not conspire with Russia.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

First, can I say that Tweeting is just not a good idea.

Second, everyone seems to have reading comprehension problems when it comes to Trump’s Tweets. He very clearly stated in his Tweet, and reiterated yesterday, that he told those Reps to come BACK to this country to share what they had learned. He seemed to be speaking specifically to OMAR since he mentioned Somalia. She has demonstrated numerous times that she hates the USA, hates Jews, and refuses to condemn Islamic terror groups. Charmer, that one Not.

And yes, she is a LIAR. But do you think the media is going to call her out on all of those lies she told abt Trump? Of course not! The same way they refuse to mention the terrorist at the Tacoma ICE Facility was Antifa, they are NOT going to hold Omar accountable.

She is a disgrace. She and that whole “squad” of anti-American Socialist twits.

Uh, yeah. Pelosi made this bed – she can damn well lie in it. And let the Dems be exposed for the lunatics they have become.

  5. kenoshamarge Says:

This brought tears to my eyes. THIS is who we are you hateful idiots on the left.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOVE this!! Yes, that is who those folk are. And wow, they can sing, too!

    • fyreglass Says:

Wonderful post, Rev! I cannot begin to understand what these protesters are thinking. They have been fed a diet of lies and half-truths, and seem to believe all of it unconditionally – even when it contradicts itself. The knots that they twist themselves into (to avoid admitting that some of their beliefs are wrong or untrue) is just mind boggling.

And thank you for pointing out this documentary. Seattle IS dying. So are San Francisco and Berkeley. (I can’t speak to LA, since I have actively avoided it for over 20 years.) These cities used to be beautiful, a delight to the eye and the mind. Now they are sewers and cesspits, breeding despair, crime, and disease.

I grew up just south of Oakland, Ca – and at that time there were a few parts of that city that were considered unsafe to go into, because of what was then called “urban decay”. Nowadays, I wouldn’t dare set foot in ANY part of Oakland – the homelessness, gangs, violence, and general lawlessness make it unsafe to be there, even during daylight. OPD used to have a reputation as a hard-nosed police force – now they are hamstrung by a city government that is more worried about “offending” people than they are about public safety or upholding the law. It is heartbreaking.

      • fyreglass Says:

Sorry – this was meant to be posted in the main section. Not sure why it posted here.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Great comment fyre – from someone who knows of what she speaks. I cannot understand how the residents of those once lovely cities can continue to vote for people that brought them to this condition.

I’ve never been to California but always wanted to go to see the Painted Ladies in San Francisco. Now? I don’t want to go anywhere that I need a “poop” map.

        • fyreglass Says:

There is so much beauty in SF – the Painted Ladies, the decorated steps on Filbert St (or on 16th Ave, or on Lincoln Park), Mission Delores, the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, the historic ships on the Hyde St Pier… the list is extensive. But no one will see them because they have to travel through the filth and decay to get there.

It makes me want to cry.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thank you so much, fyre – I appreciate it!

And you are so right abt these protesters being fed a steady stream of lies. AOC was at it yesterday at the presser Marge mentioned above. It is just astonishing that they continue to believe this crap in the face of actual facts. They’ll take the lies every time if it supports their ideological beliefs, truth be damned. It is astonishing to see.

I know it must be so hard for you to see what is happening to SF. I imagine you are right that people aren’t going to see the beautiful parts because of what they have to endure to get there. Same with much of Seattle, I assume. Like the documentary pointed out, those tourists are not going to be returning to see a city overcome with open drug use, crime, homelessness, and more.

I am sure it makes you want to cry. How could it not?

Today is the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11 with Neil Armstrong as Commander, Jim Lovell as Command Module Pilot (CMP) and Buzz Aldrin as Lunar Module Pilot (LMP) as crew.

    • fyreglass Says:

I remember watching the launch as a kid and thinking how amazing it was. And later sitting and watching in awe as Armstrong stepped out onto the surface.

I’m glad NASA has decided to go back.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It continues to be an extraordinary feat. I, too, remember watching it. And yes, fyre – Armstrong stepping out onto the moon was just beyond imagining, wasn’t it? Yet, there he was.

I’m glad, too, that NASA is going back, And I hope they get the shuttle back, too. I hated that Obama ended that program.

  7. kenoshamarge Says:

I forgot that I want to say something about “Seattle Dying”. It is dying because of the liberal government that the voters inflicted on all the citizens of that benighted city. And they will continue to vote for the killers of their city and their way of life. Can’t cure stupid.

  8. insanitybytes22 Says:

Well said, Rev Amy. I live a few hours from Seattle and it is indeed, a real mess. So many drugs, homelessness, crime. Several years ago I went through San Francisco and saw the same kind of thing, so, so much addiction and people just camped on the streets. The contrast is startling for those of us who have seen these cities before tragedy hit them.

    • fyreglass Says:

Amen to that! I grew up on the east side of San Francisco Bay, and the change is heartbreaking. I have not been to Seattle in many years, but if this documentary is even halfway accurate, then they are on a similar path.

Both cities are dying – poisoned by the policies inflicted on them by the Left.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, insanity! And so nice to *see* both you and fyre.

I appreciate your first hand account on both Seattle and SF. It is just terrible and sad that once such beautiful cities have become such cesspools.

And yes, Marge – it is absolutely the result of the ways in which liberals have run these cities. The cavalier Anything Goes mentality is showing the results of such leniency…

Good Lord. So a Muslim man e=goes scot-free for killing a French Jew because he has SMOKED POT??? SMH:

CRIF also claimed that the French authorities were hiding the anti-Semitic nature of the murder as part of a “cover up.”

The murder occurred April 4, 2017. Traore, a Muslim, entered the Jewish Halimi’s apartment, beat her and hurled her out the third-floor window.

It was reported that terrified neighbors heard Traore shouting “Allahu Akhbar” and “Shaitan” (Arabic for Satan), along with Halimi’s cries for help.

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

CBP Chief speaks out about the incitement to violence rhetoric of the Dems:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

And there will be more violence IMO. Because people who are not sane will listen to idiots talking about “concentration camps” and believe they have a right to use force against them.

And by the way, the idiot that the police fortunately killed before he completed his mission was trying to blow up a large propane tank that would have killed a lot of the detainees inside. I’m sure if that had happened it would have been Trump’s fault too. /s

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely – thank God they got that terrorist when they did.

And yes – no doubt they would have tried to pin it on Trump someway, somehow.

Sadly, I fear you are right abt the levels of violence, Marge.

  12. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And even more reason to be irritated by the activist USWNT who apparently think their job is to promote social activism as opposed to play freakin’ soccer. Their backup goalkeeper went after a young woman who is a very strong Christian left the team a year or so ago. What’s worse is that she is attacking her for something she didn’t even say. Stay classy, ladies! Ahem.

    Here’s the link:

    • fyreglass Says:

The irony here is thick. Harris first tweets “You don’t belong in a sport that aims to unite and bring people together.” and then goes on to say “You would never fit into our pack”. So how can you “bring people together” if you declare that some people don’t “fit into our pack”?

And it does not surprise me that Harris is replying to something that Hinkle never said. This is a mainstay of Leftist argument – attack what you believe someone said, even if they never actually said it. And, since Hinkle has deliberately stayed OUT of the controversy, it’s safe to attack her, because she likely won’t reply back. It’s a cowardly strategy, but one that many on the Left use fairly frequently.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes! Exactly! The hypocrisy is STAGGERING, isn’t it?? She attacks her using anything she can think of, not realizing – apparently – how poorly this reflects on her and the team. Ugh.

And you are so right – it is cowardly, and typical…

        You nailed it!
