Below are some news and opinion articles that I found while I was out and about.  I thought they were interesting. I hope you do too.

This is me so of course there are some cartoons, memes and quotes. For me a day without them is just sad. Sorrow emoticon

We’re Not All In This Together

By Daniel Greenfield

The governors running the lockdowns are not in this with us.

“We’re All In This Together,” the sappy title of one of several bad songs, has become the Ministry of Information slogan of the pandemic. You hear it while shopping for groceries at the supermarket, see it on billboards that tell you to social distance your way off the street, and in every single ad on TV.

And then, after months of being locked indoors and that we were out to kill grandma if we left the house, the same media lauded massive numbers of rioters crowding together to curse the cops.

The political fiction of the pandemic died once its administrators found a shiny new fascist object.

Mayor Bill de Blasio went from threatening the Orthodox Jewish community for holding a funeral to appearing without a mask at an anti-police rally even as much of New York City is still shut down.

“Mr. Mayor, are we in a pandemic or not? And do we have one set of rules for protesters and another for everyone else?” Hamodia, an Orthodox Jewish publication, asked De Blasio.

“When you see a nation… grappling with… 400 years of American racism, I’m sorry, that is not the same question as… the devout religious person who wants to go back to services,” he snapped back.

Governor Murphy described anti-lockdown and anti-police protests as being in “different orbits”.

Just to be clear, we’re not all in this together. And we never were. Social distancing doesn’t apply when you’re burning down cities, you can only get sick when you’re praying to G-d or burying your dead.

NYPD Officers Are Retiring In Droves Over Leadership’s Handling Of Riots, Officials Say

By Tim Pierce

New York City Police Department officers are retiring early after losing support from their higher-ups and from political leaders amid mass protests and riots over the death of George Floyd, according to current and former officers.

NYPD officers have worked consistent 12-hour shifts to curb the violence that has ripped through the city and destroyed dozens of businesses. Rioters have looted stores and injured hundreds of law enforcement officers, according to the police, via the New York Post.

Now, rank-and-file officers are electing to take their pensions and exit the force rather than stay in and cooperate with NYPD and political leadership that appears to be more interested in appeasing mobs than backing their police officers, an NYPD sergeant told The Washington Examiner.

“At our level, it’s hard to say, but in the past, you felt like chiefs like [Joseph] Esposito had your back. Even Ray Kelly. Without Rudy [Giuliani], or even with [Michael] Bloomberg, things have changed,” the unnamed sergeant said. “The [Sergeants Benevolent Association] and the thousands I’ve sent them to provide me with a lawyer and dental plan. Very important. No one else will back us at this point. Chiefs taking knees and humiliating themselves.”

On June 1, NYPD Chief Terence Monahan knelt in front of protesters in an effort to stop the episodes of violence that had broken out at the Floyd protests.

Former NYPD homicide detective Rob O’Donnell said that “three close friends” on the force have already retired and taken their pensions instead of spending another two or three years with the NYPD.

Mitch McConnell decries ‘outlandish’ push to defund police departments as ‘nonsense’

By Breck Dumas

Speaking from the Senate floor, McConnell said, “We’re already seeing outlandish calls, ‘defund the police,’ ‘abolish the police,’ take root within the left-wing leadership class,” Fox News reported.

Over the weekend, the city council in Minneapolis — where Floyd was killed while in police custody — vowed to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. Council President Lisa Bender told CNN she has already looked at ways to “shift the response away from armed police officers into a more appropriate response for mental health calls, for some domestic violence calls,” and other emergency situations.

In his reaction to that, McConnell said, “The president of the city council in Minneapolis proclaimed she can imagine a future without police.”

“I’m all for social work and mental health,” McConnell conceded, before saying, “Call me old-fashioned, but I think you may actually want a police officer to stop a criminal and arrest him before we try to work through his feelings.

“Even if some left-wing leaders fall for this nonsense, I have a feeling the American people are too smart for that,” McConnell added. “They know what happened to George Floyd is totally abhorrent. They also know that riots and looting are unacceptable. And they know that well-trained law enforcement officers are an important part of creating safe communities, not something to defund or abolish.”

LAPD: Homicides Up 250% During Past Week of ‘Defund Police’ Peaceful Protests

By Stephen Kruiser

Still Want to Defund the Police, Commies?

The discussion about the role of police and the safety of communities has been at the forefront of the national conversation for a couple of weeks now. The people who are cheering on looters, rioters, and curfew scofflaws are going on and on, saying that we should defund our police departments.

What exactly would that look like? In my Tuesday Morning Briefing I suggested that we should let the liberal cities that want to kneecap their police forces find out:

What this idiot is basically saying is that white people are never in danger and don’t need police protection because the “system is working” for us or some nonsense. This is obviously not reality-based, but she and her colleagues have — as progressives are wont to do — told themselves a story so often that they believe it.

The current turmoil presents a perfect opportunity to let the progressives feel that they’ve gotten a victory and find out what a police-free — or underfunded police — existence is like.

The defund chatter has been loud in my former city of residence, Los Angeles. Lunatic Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that he would defund the LAPD to the tune of $150 million, all the while implying that the police in L.A. are killers.

Garcetti may want to pump the brakes on his budget cuts and his rhetoric a bit. The locals have been a bit out of hand in the City of Angels recently.

The pathetic folly of crying ‘fascist’

By Rich Lowry

Confronted by a clear and present fascist threat, the staff of The New York Times rose up last week to humiliate and punish quislings in its ranks.

In a now-famous op-ed, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) called for federal troops to quell riots and looting, an idea that the Times staff considered worthy of British Fascist leader Oswald Mosley or Benito Mussolini.

As the Times was disavowing the Cotton piece and preparing to push out or demote its top opinion staffers for the offense of publishing it, columnist Michelle Goldberg wrote a response headlined “Tom Cotton’s Fascist Op-Ed.”

She acknowledged that the Times published Russian President Vladimir Putin and Taliban leader Sirajuddin Haqqani, and “a similar case could be made for hearing from Cotton, an enemy of liberal democracy.” But the difference is that Cotton “is calling for what would almost certainly amount to massive violence against his fellow citizens.”

The sophomoric and hysterical charge that President Trump and his supporters are fascists is now a staple of elite left-of-center opinion. That it has gained such traction is a sign of the ever-increasing ideological radicalism of Trump’s opposition and of the ever-diminishing ambit for free and open debate — fascists are to be shut down, as the Times staff insisted, not tolerated.

There is no doubt that Trump’s periodic blustery assertions of having total authority are gross, would freak out Republicans if a Democrat made them and deserve to be condemned. The president loves strength and is drawn to theatrical demonstrations of his own power.

But his critics are unable to distinguish between wild statements at news briefings or cruel tweets, on the one hand, and establishing a one-party state or invading France, on the other.

The Monumental Campaign to #CancelAmerica

By Michelle Malkin

Across our looted plain, statues are under siege. Smashed. Spray-painted. Shrouded. Expunged. In the name of social justice, we are witnessing the systematic eradication of history. Edifice vigilantes will not rest until all monuments of Western civilization fall.

It matters not whether the targets were guilty of the tired old charges of patriarchal oppression and institutional racism. It only matters that marble and granite tributes to dead white men be replaced with garish “Black Lives Matter” street murals and St. George Floyd altars.

Trillions of tax dollars have been spent on America’s War on Poverty. We’ve had four decades of affirmative action. A black president held the White House for eight years, with a black First Lady, black attorney general, black homeland security secretary, black transportation secretary, black education secretary, black U.N. ambassador, top black senior advisers, and more than 400 black presidential appointees. It’s never enough.

The current president has forked over criminal justice reform, expanded the “Opportunity Zones” money pit, increased funding for historically black colleges and universities and obsesses endlessly about the “black unemployment rate.” At the urging of his pandering son-in-law, Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump is now promising to deliver left-wing “police reforms” first—instead of protecting law enforcement officers and their families in the crosshairs of violent antifa and Black Lives Matter extremists.

But it’s still not enough. The monuments must fall.

The Four Horsemen of America’s Apocalypse

By Dennis Prager

It takes a lot to build a civilization, and though it is much easier to destroy a civilization, it takes a lot to do that, too.

But now we have four roots of evil that are guaranteed to do so.

No. 1: Victimhood.

The first is victimhood. The more people who regard themselves as victims — as individuals or as a group — the more likely they are to commit evil. People who think of themselves as victims feel that, having been victimized, they are no longer bound by normal moral conventions — especially the moral conventions of their alleged or real oppressors.

Everyone knows this is true. But few confront this truth. Every parent, for example, knows that the child who thinks of him or herself as a perpetual victim is the child most likely to cause and get into trouble. And criminologists report that nearly every murderer in prison thinks of himself as a victim.

On a societal scale, the same holds true — and being on such a larger scale, the chances of real evil ensuing are exponentially increased. One of the most obvious examples is Germany after World War I. Most Germans regarded themselves as victims — of the Treaty of Versailles; of a “stab in the back” German government; of the British, Americans and French; and, of course, of the Jews. This sense of victimhood was one of the most important factors in the popularity of the Nazis, who promised to restore German dignity.

Whiteness’: The New Evil

By Adrienne Skolnik

I was recently made aware of another social justice group with a very liberal view of racism. An issue of great interest to me. I listened to the diatribe carefully, and was disappointed with what boiled down to a rehash of progressive left group-think, buzz-words, and talking points. What really caught my attention was something I took as a warning – the group’s intention to extend their leadership impact into our Jewish community. It is my suggestion we vigorously resist these types of agendas, and I appreciate the opportunity to share my reasons why.

When I heard the phrases “Jews of Whiteness,” and “Jews of Color,” I took umbrage with these terms. I don’t think of myself as a Jew of Whiteness. This is Labeling (also known as Identity Politics) which creates divisiveness and hierarchy of power. Labeling in and of itself, is a divide and conquer technique, used to pit one group against the other. Making one group more important than the other, creates a competition which leads to victimization. Exactly what the progressive left agenda requires to succeed. By dividing us, their objective is to become more powerful.

I am blessed to have an adopted Ethiopian Jewish son. When I share that with people, some ask, “Is he black?” My response is, “I never noticed. He is a Jew.” If I ask him, “Describe yourself to me,” the first thing he will tell me is, “I am a Jew.” That simple. When I asked my son if he ever heard of, “Jews of Whiteness,” he asked, “What is that?” We couldn’t stop laughing. The Labeling of Jews of Whiteness and Jews of Color is creating the divisiveness and exclusivity that this social justice group perpetuates.

Throughout history, Jews were not persecuted because of their color. They were persecuted because they were “Jews.” Period. Yet, here we are dividing ourselves with the socialist group think that destroys the beauty of our cultural history. This is cultural self-destruction. We don’t need anyone else to destroy us when we can do it from within.

A report from the big white suburban guilty girls picnic march

By Glenn K. Beaton

Urban trekking around Denver the other day, I happened across a protest march of maybe a thousand people. Here’s what I observed.

The marchers were almost all white. I saw fewer than a dozen black people and no Hispanics.

Most were young women looking vaguely guilt-ridden. They were well-dressed, well-groomed and well-fed. I’m not passing judgment, mind you, but just reporting the facts.

Some were in small groups of similar young women. Some were with boyfriends, who were neither well-groomed nor well-fed. They were scrawny and scruffy, if you ask me, with thin beards.

Not that there’s anything wrong with a guy with a body and beard that are thin and a girlfriend who’s not. Again, I’m just reporting the facts.

Most wore COVID masks. In virtue signaling, their march and their masks made the day a twofer.

Many carried signs displaying slogans like “Black Lives Matter” and “Justice for George.”

I agreed with those signs, at least the literal words of them. George deserves justice just as everyone does, and black lives matter just as all lives do.

The marchers surely aren’t worried that we onlookers reading those innocuous signs will don our MAGA hats, pull our 9 mm and shout: “No! Black lives do not matter! And no justice for George!”

So why were the marchers there?

Comey, Clapper, Rice Subpoenas Probe Depths Of Obama Administration Corruption

By Margot Cleveland

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee last week authorized Chair Ron Johnson to issue subpoenas for more than 35 people connected to Crossfire Hurricane. Given the breadth of Spygate, it is unlikely Johnson’s committee will succeed in unpacking the totality of the misconduct. Three names on the list, however — Susan Rice, James Comey, and James Clapper — indicate Americans might soon learn more about any complicity by Barack Obama and Joe Biden in our country’s greatest political scandal.

Details released over the last month reveal President Obama and Vice President Biden knew more about the targeting of Trump transition team member Michael Flynn than previously realized. Several recently declassified documents, when read together, suggest Obama had a hand — and, at a minimum, Biden acquiesced in — the attempt to destroy Flynn and intrude upon the functioning of the new Trump administration.

Much of the declassified information concerns a Jan. 5, 2017, Oval Office meeting. According to the FBI’s 302 interview report, on that date, “Yates, along with then-FBI Director James Comey, then-CIA Director John Brennan, and then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper were at the White House to brief members of the Obama Administration on the classified intelligence Community Assessment on Russian Activities in Recent U.S. Elections.” Rice, Obama’s then-national security adviser, and others were also present, including Biden, according to an email Rice later sent to herself.

According to Yates, “After the briefing, Obama dismissed the group but asked Yates and Comey to stay behind.” Then, “Obama started by saying he had ‘learned of the information about Flynn’ and his conversation with [Russian Ambassador Sergey] Kislyak about sanctions.” Yates’ 302 further stated, “Obama specified he did not want any additional information on the matter but was seeking information on whether the White House should be treating Flynn any differently, given the information.”

The mention of Flynn “and his conversation with Kislyak about sanctions,” was in reference to intercepted telephone calls between Flynn and the Russian ambassador in late December and early January. However, as the now-declassified transcripts of those calls establish, Flynn did not discuss sanctions with Kislyak, but had instead discussed the Obama administration’s decision to expel Russian diplomats from the United States.

Protesters took over Seattle’s City Hall after a council-member unlocked the door and let them in

On Tuesday evening, far-left Seattle Councilwoman Kshama Sawant and her staffers unlocked the doors of City Hall to allow hundreds of radical protesters in to occupy the premises and demand the resignation of Democratic Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan amidst calls to defund the Seattle Police Department.

Great, great post, Marge – thank you for this excellent collection of stories.

Here’s a good news one for you – for the first time ever, HALF of the NSC leaders are women, and they have some SERIOUS cred:

Thank you mam. There are so many stories that it is becoming difficult to decide which ones to use. And new ones keep coming.

But I think my favorite story was the one: “A report from the big white suburban guilty girls picnic march. ” it mocks the idiots so perfectly.

    Gary Varvel says:

“And He (God) has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord…” – Acts 17:26-27.

There is only one race of humans. The Bible says we are all descendants of Adam. God made us from one blood. God chose the time and places where we would live. Why? So that we might seek the Lord. But instead of accepting this truth, that we are all a part of a whole, we’re taught to see ourselves as part of subgroups defined by race, sex, gender and class. Political pollsters propagate these divisions all of the time: The women’s vote, black vote, Latino vote, working class voters… These minority groups are believed to be oppressed by the cultural hegemony which is the power that rules and governs our culture through institutions like traditional marriage.

Cultural hegemony was a theory proposed in the early 1900s by Antonio Gramsci who was a marxist. Gramsci theorized that in order for capitalism to die and the people to adopt economic marxism, there would have to be a change in the hegemonic power. And the way to change that power was through Judicial activism, educational activism, and political activism.

Where Gramsci sought change through political power, a group of scholars known as the Frankfurt School devised an ideology called, “cultural marxism” which is the foundation for political correctness, multiculturalism and critical race theory.

Their plan was to use the media to change the culture with the ultimate goal being globalism. Have they been successful? Look at TV programming. What our culture used to call immoral behavior in the 60s and 70s, Americans call entertainment today. Sadly, we have become desensitized to sin.

Barack Obama said he was going to “fundamentally transform America.” He wasn’t kidding. So what has this got to do with the daily protests and riots in the streets? The cultural hegemony in our society today is the white, male, heterosexual, cisgendered, able-bodied, native-born American – also known as, ‘white privilege.’ Everyone who is not in that group is an oppressed victim of a minority and at war with the hegemony.

We’re told we need to have a conversation about race. But don’t you dare have an opposing view. Drew Brees was forced to apologize last week for saying that he “will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag.” His words were hurtful.

Ellen DeGeneres apologized after tweeting, “People of color in this country have faced injustice for far too long.” She was called, “tone deaf” for not using the words, “black people.” She deleted the tweet.

The left is unloving, unforgiving and uses fear and intimidation to bully people into submission. David Limbaugh tweeted on Saturday, “One reason there is a “silent” majority is that many sane people refuse to say publicly what they believe anymore for fear of the fascist left. But they vote — and you better believe they’ll vote in November.”

I’m convinced that the only hope for peace in America is found in the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.

Galatians 3:28 says, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This is informative and disturbing as hell, especially as we are seeing it play out right in front of our eyes. It is crazy, and unsettling, to put it mildly.

I love how Varvel concludes, though. That hope, that PROMISE, is a gift beyond measure…

This cartoon shows exactly why I think Gary Varvel is one of the great cartoonists of all time. IMO it is a close to perfect as any cartoon can be on this subject.

It’s Your Fault They Turn to Violence!

    By Raymond Ibrahim

According to the media narrative, whatever unpleasant behavior a person or group is engaging in — from criminal and gang activity to sheer terrorism — if you’re white and the other party is not, that proves that the behavior is entirely your fault.  Your insufferable racism and xenophobia have pushed these people over the edge; their criminal behavior is a reflection of their many grievances against you.

This would certainly require ameliorating if it were true.  It’s not.  This is not to say there is no racism, a thing that cannot be “legislated”; rather, it is to say that the overwhelming majority of criminal behavior is and always has been fueled by things other than grievances.

Take Islam for instance.  Following the savage 9/11 terror attacks, the great question was “why do they hate us?”  The answer from the media and their array of “experts” was that they had grievances against America.

Thereafter followed a litany list of supposed American or Western crimes against Muslims: originally, it was Western political “sins” — from the Crusades to colonialism to the creation of Israel.  With each new terrorist attack or Islamic outrage, the “grievances” Muslims had grew: free speech, churches, even teddy bears were included.

The media might as well have mentioned your sheer existence as a prosperous and free infidel as the ultimate grievance, which would have been closer to the truth.  After all, unjustified Islamic attacks on Western peoples began nearly 1,400 years ago, a few years after Islam was born.  They continued for a millennium, swallowing three quarters of the Christian world and bombarding every corner of Europe, whence many millions of slaves were abducted.

    Just mind blowing.
