Another Week Begins

Happy Monday, a reminder & a giveaway - One Happy Mama

I like to begin my week with a sampling of what’s being “talked” about around the internet.  I try to include some articles that are off the beaten path.  Different voices, not just the most popular or well known usually teach us something.

Today I did something a little different. Everything is about corruption – government corruption.

I hope you find it and the information, and speculation as well as opinion, a good start to a new week. I hope it gives you something to think about. Much of it makes my brain boil!

Democrats And The Media Are Destroying The Rule of Law In America

By Victor Davis Hanson

Author and historian Victor Davis Hanson said Friday on FOX News about the FBI’s “surprise search” of the former president’s Florida home:

They’re afraid in the short term. But in the long term, they believe they’re morally superior to America, and therefore any means necessary are justifiable for their morally superior ends.

But right now, we don’t have the rule of law in Washington. Whether you’re targeted or exempt depends on your ideology. So in the past, when there was a dispute over the archives, the presidential papers, Barack Obama just said, “I’m not going to turn them over” to the Freedom of Information [Act]. He spent over $30 million dollars resisting efforts to do that.

George Bush had an executive order that said, you know what, I’m not going to do this. And that was adjudicated. But now we go after a president and go to his house with 30 agents. In the past, when a high official was called for a Congressional subpoena, [Obama A.G.] Eric Holder just said [he’s] not going and [he’s] not turning over any of the [documents regarding the scandal called] “Fast and Furious.”

The idea that you would put him in shackles or you’d confront him with his family and grab his phone is just ridiculous. But this is what we’re doing, on an ideological basis. And when you start to do that, you don’t have a democracy anymore and I don’t think we do.

“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.” ~ Frederic Bastiat

Mitch McConnell’s math depends on Republican voters staying home

By Joe Strader

Many in the Republican conservative base have good reasons for disliking Senator McConnell. However, he is the leader of the Senate Republicans, making him the highest-ranking Republican in office. Republicans with more political power and a larger base are currently on the outside looking in. That can change. I would never pretend to know what is going on in my senior senator’s head, but I have observed him since the Reagan administration, so I know how he operates.

Kentuckians are faulted for electing Mitch over and over. There is a reason we elect him. It is part of the Mitch McConnell political math. McConnell faces two election threats: the primary and general elections. He firmly controls the local Republican political machine. They love him because Mitch is a winner and these people like winning. It is almost impossible to mount a state-wide primary fight with someone outside of the local political system, and no one within the system would dare challenge Mitch. He wins his primary handily.

It is a bit harder in the general election, but Kentucky Democrats generally pull their punches in challenging Mitch. Even Democrats know that McConnell sends a lot of federal dollars our way. Kentucky is a conservative state despite our Democrat governor, and they find it easy to tolerate Senator McConnell. Getting elected to the Senate is a game of numbers, with Mitch flawlessly playing both sides.

American Stasi

By Josh Hammer

Last Monday’s shocking images of police sirens blaring outside Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump’s magnificent Palm Beach, Florida, estate, will not soon be forgotten.

America, it seems, won the Cold War only to see its own federal law enforcement/national security apparatus morph into a version of the old East German Stasi — and barely three decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall, to boot.

Attorney General Merrick Garland’s Thursday press conference, remarkably defensive and defiant in tone, did not dispel any concerns or assuage any critics.

The Presidential Records Act isn’t even a criminal statute, and probable cause for the violation of a criminal statute is the necessary precondition for a magistrate to sign off on a search warrant. As the case may be, the magistrate who signed off on this particular warrant, Bruce Reinhart, is a Jeffrey Epstein-connected ex-defense attorney who just so happened to donate thousands of dollars in 2008 to then-presidential candidate Barack Obama. Go figure.

Many of the Biden Regime’s apologists are out in full force, suggesting that the raid was necessary because Trump was obstructing the return of existentially vital documents. This is demonstrably specious.

Records Suggest A Backbench Bureaucrat’s Partisan Grievance Spurred The FBI’s Nakedly Political Raid On Trump

By Margot Cleveland

Last week’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home represented the culmination of a criminal investigation pushed by a partisan bureaucrat who called January 6, 2021, the “absolute worst” day of his life. And while since last Monday, the country has focused on the FBI’s raid of Trump’s personal residence, seeing that as the crossing of the Rubicon, the die was cast this spring when the DOJ went to the grand jury about Trump’s presidential records.

Reporting by the New York Times and Washington Post — some from months ago — when pieced together and considered in tandem with past practices related to presidential and other governmental records, reveals this reality. The relevant reporting started no later than February of this year, when the Washington Post broke the news that the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) confirmed in a statement, issued by the then-archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero, that in January of 2022 NARA had retrieved from Mar-a-Lago 15 boxes of presidential records, which according to sources included items such as mementos, gifts, and letters. NARA added that Trump representatives were “continuing to search” for additional records.

Did you know about:

The Government-Criminal Connection

In the past, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has had movies and TV series promoting them as the men (and later women) in the white hats. Yet, from the time J. Edgar Hoover took over the FBI in the 1920s, to his murder in 1972, the Bureau was America’s secret political police. And there are strong reasons to believe it still is that.

Starting in the 1930s, Hoover used his “muscle” to block any would-be radio station owner that was linked with labor unions or labor groups. Exactly how he had his way with the then new Federal Communications Commission to strangle pro-labor radio stations is a little-known subject. One of the few exceptions was WCFL Radio in Chicago. It was owned by the Chicago Federation of Labor.

If you listened to them starting in the 1960s, however, you would not suspect or detect that they were supposedly “The Voice of Labor”. They had the usual format, just like every other commercial radio station. They did NOT push labor’s point of view and hence were acceptable to the FBI.

Be sure to read the rest – it’s fascinating. And remember – this was written 22 years ago.

Be well. Be safe.

Here’s a thought for the day:

You simply could not make up something this stupid. MSNBC’s Morning Joe brings on Peter Strzok to argue on behalf of the FBI’s integrity.

Oh. My. GOD. Are you KIDDING me?!?!? Of the Lovebirds??? Was Lisa Page waiting for him in the wings?

      What a joke.

Also a joke is that some narcissistic little bureaucrat Snowflake got his little feelings hurt from BLOCKS away and decided to take it to the 45th President while ignoring ALL of the actual malfeasance of people like Clinton or that he has NONE of Obama’s documents.

These people are just the worst.

Your post, however, was excellent. The quotes are really something, Marge. Thanks for that.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Thanks so much Amy. Didn’t have to look too hard to find stories, quotes and cartoons showing corruption.

This headline from the Babylon Bee cracked me up – and then I remembered how plausible it is now:

Opinion: Concerns About FBI Raids Have Been Overblown And There’s No Need To Wor—Hang On, There’s A Knock At The Door

If At First You Don’t Succeed…Keep Doing Stupid Stuff

    By Allen West

We all grew up understanding the maxim,”if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” However, that maxim was intended to provide encouragement to learn from previous failures while showing perseverance. In the military we were taught to improvise, adapt, and overcome. Sadly, today there are those who have embraced Albert Einstein’s pure definition of insanity, “Do the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.”

Those people have evidenced themselves to be the progressive socialist left, aka the Democrat party, the political establishment, and their media accomplices.

This past week gave us another episode of “Lifestyles of the Stuck on Stupid”. There can be no debate on the subject, the leftist gremlins in America want Donald Trump gone. And much the same as Wylie Coyote, they just can’t seem to succeed at their intended objective.

Andrew McCarthy had this to say abt the warrant the FBI used, and it was NOT in support of it. Ever heard of rht Fourth Amendment? Yeah:

Glad to hear that more whistleblowers are coming forward abt the FBI:

Meanwhile, I am sure this will absolutely shock you – NOT. Seems Sinema is getting a BOATLOAD of donations from Wall Street after she showed her true gold-digging colors:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Trusting Manchin and Sinema is foolish at best and dangerous at worst. In the end they will always suck it up and support their party. Because party, to both the left and the right means more than country. JMO

Trump claimed that the FBI stole his passports.

    They did:

I have been watching Tucker tonight, and his monologue is a MUST SEE. Absolutely a must see. I will try and find it tomorrow.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Idiot Nora O’Donnell said the FBI didn’t have Trump’s passports. No they didn’t because they gave them back. Now the idiots on the left claim Trump was lying about it even though idiot O’Donnell said “they gave it back.” How do you give it back if you didn’t have it? The stupidity is mind-boggling.
