Candidate Obama v. President Obama On Executive Orders

by

I have mentioned Obama and the whole Executive Order thing a number of times, and how hypocritical it is. Not to mention just plain wrong, since it is intended to treat the Presidency as a Monarchy.

But now President Obama has ratcheted it up even more. Just as a reminder, here is Candidate Obama:

As for President Obama, the New York Times is reporting on Obama now in this article, “Shift on Executive Power Lets Obama Bypass Rivals.” Just as a little correction to the Times Title makers, Congress isn’t a RIVAL, it is a Co-Equal branch of Government. Let’s just be clear here.

But now to the meat of the NY Times article:

[snip]For Mr. Obama, that meeting was a turning point. As a senator and presidential candidate, he had criticized George W. Bush for flouting the role of Congress. And during his first two years in the White House, when Democrats controlled Congress, Mr. Obama largely worked through the legislative process to achieve his domestic policy goals.

But increasingly in recent months, the administration has been seeking ways to act without Congress
. (Emphasis mine.) Branding its unilateral efforts “We Can’t Wait,” a slogan that aides said Mr. Obama coined at that strategy meeting, the White House has rolled out dozens of new policies — on creating jobs for veterans, preventing drug shortages, raising fuel economy standards, curbing domestic violence and more.

Each time, Mr. Obama has emphasized the fact that he is bypassing lawmakers. (Emphasis mine.) When he announced a cut in refinancing fees for federally insured mortgages last month, for example, he said: “If Congress refuses to act, I’ve said that I’ll continue to do everything in my power to act without them.” [snip] (Click here to read the rest.)

What does it say about a president who routinely criticized and denounced as undemocratic a practice as exercised by his predecessor, yet now is looking for any and all ways to silence one branch of co-equal power? What does it say for this so-called Constitutional scholar that he goes above and beyond to circumvent the very foundation of this nation for his own political gain?

It says a lot, and none of it good.

As for Obama’s new slogan, “We Can’t Wait,” you’re damn skippy we can’t wait – to get you out of office and stop the systematic destruction of our Constitution and country. Nope, we cannot wait…

FYI: Today is a Primary Day in 5 states: New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Oh, and it is also the day that Obama can “clinch” the nomination. Should be an interesting day!

LOL, cuz—-God is THAT the truth! That video of Obama “splainin’ ” to us dumb hicks just how the guv’t works is amazing! Not only is he lying that he would never do what Bush did, it’s the way he’s lying so condescendingly!
And he looks like (in the video) he could just as easily be dribbling a basketball while he’s speaking to the crowd— so non chalant and unaffected by his audience. Stunning!
    Thank you for the post!

Thank you, Cuz! I appreciate that.

You are so right – his words just drip with condescension, don’t they? And you know, those of us who live where we do ARE just a bunch of no-nothin’ hicks, so yeah, the Great Communicator (cough, cough) has to fill us in. Especially since we’re women and all…

      Great comment!

Rev. Amy, are you and cindyindie really cousins? I

Hey, SSDD – LOL, well, we started all of this a while back since our people come from all the same places. We figure we HAVE to be related somewhere along the line! 🙂

I was APPALLED when I saw that he picked Samantha Power to head up this committee, and apparently announced it while giving a speech at the Holocaust Museum! An anti-Semite to head up the Atrocities Prevention group – WOW.

You may remember, she was the one who called Hillary Clinton a “monster” during the 2008 Primaries. What a piece of work.

backtrack shows nothing but contempt for the other branches of government.
His contempt for the democratic party is interesting to watch. They sold their souls to the devil and are now paying a high price for doing so.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Indeed, they did. Unfortunately, all the rest of us are paying for their deception/blinders…

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, for heaven’s sake. Haven’t we been through this before??? Tests for a dangerous job like firefighting should be as rigorous as possible. People’s lives depend on it, after all.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Btw, Dana Perino just said she thought this case was abt the same as the one in CT, which did not rule the way the DOJ wants this one to go. And they said (on The Five) that it is interesting that they did this in FL. As Andrea Tantaros just said, if your house is on fire, you don’t care WHAT color the firefighter is who shows up, but it is not right to favor one race over another. I agree.

I saw a voter in Pennsylvania tell a reporter that he thinks Barry will win in a landslide come November. I don’t know…I can’t even fathom what four more years of the Obama monarchy will be like and I pray I don’t have to find out. I hope Romney buys a clue and realizes that he gonna have to do some things that may leave a bad taste in his mouth in order to get Barry’s ass out. I hate to admit this, but I don’t care how low the Romney camp goes in order to oust Obama. It is necessary to save this country from complete destruction from the inside out.

    • HELENK Says:

I am to the point ” whatever it takes to get him gone”. I never thought I would say that about an election.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I sure hope not, SSDD. Then again, considering they know for a fact that they were stuffing ballot boxes in PA and OH (who knows where else?), abt which McCain chose to do nothing, am not at all surprised to hear a PA voter say that. As I recall, on CNN, they had a guy gleefully claiming that he voted more than once, and they just laughed it off.

And, of course, that is where the New Black Panther Party was engaging in voter intimidation, abt which the DOJ refused to do anything.

So, yeah – I can see why the PA people would think that…

What amazes me abt this is that this is happening despite what seems to be a coordinated effort to go after her. Our paper, for example, manages to put in some kind of dig abt her almost every time it reports on something. And some of the reports are overblown, or snarky (like a recent one on her Vogue photo shoot). So good for her. And the state.

She is bringing in business here from outside the country, which is no small thing, so I imagine that helps…

I know that a Mitten’s win only buys us time to undo so much that must be dismantled. I worry about the type of administration that would coalese under Mittens.

I would love to see Condileeza Rice serve as VP. It would shut the racist misogynists up to some degree. She would care a big stick but walk softly. She’s done it before. I realize that VP is not a power position, but wouldn’t it be nice to force Al & racists et al to clam it?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Hey, mcnorman – I have to say, I have grown to like Mitt more the more I learn abt him, and hear him speak. Bottom line, he is a far cry better than what we have now, so there is that…

And you are right abt Rice – she should be in his Admin. somehow, either as Sec. of State again, or VP, would be nice. But Romney has options in that regard – he has my gov., Nikki Haley, Sen. Rubio, Gov. Martinez, and a bunch of others. I thik Rep. Allen West might be a good choice for Sec. of Defense since he has so much military experience.

But yeah – as time goes by, it is clear that minority groups are not monolithic.

I appreciate that Romney wasn’t your first choice, though – I totally get that! 🙂

      • mcnorman Says:

I’ll vote for an amoeba before I would place and X next to the poser. I cannot tell you how many people I encounter that will stay at home this time around. It sounds to me like the 11 million that could have given their vote to McCain last time around. Had he fought for PA and other states where there was fraud and had he had the 11 million that sat at home, well things might have been a bit different, perhaps?

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I wish McCain had fought harder, too. I understand he said when they got proof of the ballot box stuffing that he didn’t want another contentious election. No doubt, he knew people would call him a racist if he pushed it. But still – why would something as important as the US Presidency be handed over lest the thugs and race baiters get upset? That is NOT how a democracy is supposed to work. That makes us no better than a banana republic…
