News Other Than Trump’s Latest Tantrum *Open Thread*

by

Good lord, can Trump be any more petulant, childish, and immature? I am not going to give him a bunch of time on this latest tantrum of his about Iowa, but honest-to-pete, it speaks volumes about him and how singularly unsuitable he is for the office he seeks. Please, Media, stop fueling this idiotic flame about Iowa. Trump is wrong, plain and simple, a fact Judge Napolitano makes quite clear here:

So, enough already on this crap argument of Trump’s because he LOST. Ridiculous.

Meanwhile, we have President Obama make his first visit to a mosque in the United States. And of course, he chooses one with numerous ties to radical Islam. What the hell?

But that isn’t all, of course. Once again, he attacks Americans, lecturing us on how we need to treat Muslim Americans better, as if we are the ones with the problem. Of COURSE most Muslim Americans deserve to be treated like everyone else, but to lecture us as if the attacks on the United States by radical Islamists hasn’t happened is just psychotic. And not for nothing, but I sure haven’t heard President Obama lecture Americans about the disproportionate attacks on JEWS in this country, since Jews are at the receiving end of religious hatred far more than ANYONE ELSE. Not that you’d know that from Obama.

And you also aren’t going to hear actual history from Obama, either, especially when he is pandering to a certain audience like those in attendance at the mosque. Here is part of what Obama said. From Breitbart:

[…] Obama reminded the audience that political opponents of Thomas Jefferson accused him of being a Muslim. “So I was not the first,” he said lightly as the audience laughed. “It’s true. Look it up. I’m in good company.”

Obama pointed out that the founding fathers also supported the religion of Islam.

“Jefferson and John Adams had their own copies of the Koran,” he said. “Benjamin Franklin wrote, that even if the Mufti of Constantinople were to send a missionary to preach to us, he would find a pulpit at his service.” […] (Click here to read the rest of Obama’s speech.)

Except that wasn’t exactly the response of the Founding Fathers to Islam. THIS was the reaction:

[…] Far from incorporating Islam into America’s early tapestry, their own writings reveal the Founding Fathers were at war with the creed and its adherents.

In 1801, President Jefferson sent the Navy to the Barbary Coast to stop Islamic pirates’ reign of terror on U.S. merchant ships. Jefferson read the Quran to understand what was motivating the pirates, and he learned that the Muslim holy book commanded the faithful to “plunder and enslave” non-Muslims.

In 1814, after Tripoli broke its truce and began attacking U.S. ships again, former President John Adams wrote Jefferson a letter advising that Islam’s founder and prophet was “a military fanatic.” In another writing, he condemned Islamic law as “contemptible.”

His son and future president, John Quincy Adams, went further, arguing that the essence of Islam is “violence and lust: to exalt the brutal over the spiritual part of human nature.” He suggested the Quran’s commands to fight and conquer other lands “in the cause of Allah” were at odds with democracy, peace and the Judeo-Christian ethic on which America was founded. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

That was the tip of the iceberg of the reaction from our Founding Fathers, the exact OPPOSITE response from what Obama claimed. As bad as this was – the butchery of American history – it does pale in comparison to Obama choosing this particular mosque in the first place, I think. And that choice is telling indeed…

Then there is this result from a hearing yesterday with the OPM chief. Just to refresh your memories, the OPM allowed the hacking of a VAST amount of highly personal, confidential information of numerous government employees, past and present (my sister-in-law was directly affected by this as well as some readers). From the Daily Caller:

[…]

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (HOGR) Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz is slapping a subpoena on Office of Personnel Management Acting Secretary Beth Cobert after waiting months for documents about the agency’s massive security breaches.

OPM’s repeated failures to address known cyber security gaps allowed hackers to steal the personal information of more than 21 million current and former federal employees. But OPM hasn’t turned over all of the 11,000 un-redacted files and directories HOGR has been demanding for months. The committee even received some of the same files OPM held back from private company CyTech, a contractor that inspected OPM’s networks.

Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah, said Cobert is “not working in good faith with the committee.”

“OPM, under Ms. Cobert’s leadership, is not cooperating with the Committee’s investigation,” Chaffetz said in a news release Wednesday. “We made a commitment to the American people to ensure a hack of this nature never happens again. The documents we’ve repeatedly requested be provided to this Committee are essential to fulfilling that promise.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

This is completely unacceptable. These people work for US, a fact they continue to ignore. That this Committee is not getting the relevant information to provide oversight and accountability cannot stand. Good for Chaffetz for standing up for us against this horrendous data breach. Heads should roll.

Okay, that is it for me. I have been having some internet issues and ATT is here right now (early). Feel free to discuss any of the above, or anything else on your minds.

This is an Open Thread.

Evidently John McCain’s protégée won in Iowa. Who knew?

Marco Rubio’s new BFF Rick Santorum gets stumped when asked to name Rubio’s top accomplishments in the Senate

Rick Santorum — who just endorsed Marco Rubio for president — had a really, really tough time naming any of Marco Rubio’s accomplishments during an interview with MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough this morning.

Wait – does he really support Rubio, or someone else? His appearances may hurt more than help! 🙂

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I don’t think Santorum matters much one way or another. It’s way past time for him to find an honest way to make a living and leave the politics alone. All he’s done is waste a lot of money on a forlorn hope. Same with Huckabee.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I could not agree more. Santorum could go work for a Right To Life organization or something. That seems to be his passion. Time to leave politics behind…

Oh, and Huckabee, too. Maybe he could go back to ministry…

Cybersecurity Key Issue for Next President Says… Hillary

Hillary certainly seems confident talking about cybersecurity which is curious since some people are now claiming she didn’t know how to access her email with a computer.

If you made this stuff up, no one would believe it.

By the Way, The National Debt Just Blew Past $19 Trillion

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is staggering, isn’t it? And as I wrote yesterday, it is set to go up dramatically by the time Obama is done since he basically has carte blanche. Just astonishing – $58,000+ for every man, woman, and child.

What a legacy to leave for these kids…

    • mcnorman Says:

Someone needs to explain this to the country. I think the mantra is if you don’t look, it doesn’t count.

  5. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

As you may have heard, Carly Fiorina is currently not going to be in Saturday’s debate thanks to some crazy parameters set by ABC. Never mind that she did better in actual VOTING than some of the others on the stage, but with the numbers down now, it is ludicrous to exclude her.

If you would like to see her added to the stage, please sign this petition from her camp: http://fairdebate.gr8.com

    • kenoshamarge Says:

signed the petition and called the RNC. Are they determined to let Hillary take all the women voters? I am not a gender voter but am outraged that the women who has managed to stay strong all through this campaign and as you say got more votes than some of the men who will be on the stage is sheer stupidity.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good for you, Marge! And you are so right. Heck, even Newt Gringrich and Mitt Romney are telling the RNC to make sure
Fiorina is on that stage. It is just idiotic that she would NOT be on it

        Well done!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Just got a follow up email from the FIorina team that more and more leaders and media are speaking out abt the debate, including Kelly Ayotte, Joe Scarborough, Chris Matthews, and more…

    • mcnorman Says:

I think it is gross that they would try to exclude Fiorina. She needs to be on stage.

  6. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This is so, so wrong. Kasich will be there, but not Fiorina? I think I am going to be busy Sat. night: http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/268317-carly-fiorina-abc-republican-debate
